the more you add the more problems?
im torn right now in my quest for more power? do i really want to upgrade acuators and get a new emu along with a boost controller.. fuel system.. new clutch.. ect ect or should i be happy with the power ive achieved right now and just call it quits? i was at 420wrhp.. and my engine blew because of lack of oil.. im tempted to just get all the upgrades and shoot for more.. but what will i do when i start having problems with that? i mean the more **** i throw into play the more problems im gonna have.. i didnt have problems with the kit as it was.. i dont know right now.. this is a serious fork in the road.. ive already spent an arm and leg.. should i spend my other arm and leg and go for it all.. or just be happy with what i got? man or man.. i dont know anymore.. lol
also note. i was only running 8 psi on my aps kit.. i could stay with the unichip and everything i already have put the rc650cc injectors in and up the boost to 11 or something and maybe see 500rwhp or close to it.. i dont know? what do you guys think? i mean now i am gonna have the forged engine so its like why not.. its a tuff gamble and im not sure i want to play with all this money anymore.. im getting a house soon and its not like the car isnt already ridiculous fast.. lol

Its about planning from the beginning, knowing what your power goals are and what it takes to get there. IMO The APS kit is great for a stock G, other FI kits might be suitable for a built motors or wanting more power down the road. Now once you decide to build that motor, theres just more problems that may come when trying to achieve more power. More stress on you motor, and the price for this hobby is expensive. As you've read, building-up the VQ motor is NOT a sure thing. The downtime, headaches, and the money invested will sometimes make you think twice, if it was even worth going FI. Some guys get into this hobby without really giving it some serious thought, once they've realized how crazy, expensive, and sometimes addicting it is, its too late to turn back. Probably the smart ones just leave and cut their loses. For me, only time will tell. Now would I recommed going FI at this moment, I would say probably " not ". Not until better engine management system has come and are fully tested to run safe with or without the stock ecu. If your happy with around 300-350whp, then yes, there are kits available that are safe to work with our VQ's and a very well tuned G is a must. ......For now, I say rebuild your motor and run it safe at stock psi and be happy with 400-450rwhp. You may decide to sell your car later, and the money spent you wont get back. 2-3yrs from now you'll want a different car, I know because you dont seem to be happy with what your have, hell your already looking for your 3rd set of wheels. Man, your G was already sick before going FI. If your planning on keeping your G forever, than possibly go all out with those mods you want, otherwise stop the madness and save your dinero for a new house. .... just my .02 cents.

WERD! Seems like there is no end. Forged doesnt mean no problems. Ask G man. You see a LOT of posts on my350z and a lot of those guys have built motors. Seems liek the guys with a built motor have more problems then the stock VQ. Im happy with about 450rwhp. There are a lot of guys running around with that much HP on the stock motor and have no problems. Thats what I want.
I was stuck at the same cross road you are at a month of 2 ago. My G has run me up a bill that would make most people on this forum cry. The car put down 420 rwhp on a Greddy kit at 8.2 psi. Once that was done the first thing I thought was.......How can I get more power. Instead of thinking.....DAMN that's fast. Before I spent money on a reflash, injectors, bumpers, more suspension work, more stereo work, etc. I took a step back and realized....I haven't raced a single other vehicle on the road since the last dyno.....why because no car I have seen is worth my time? Everything I see on a daily basis is slower than the G as it sits right now. So why spend thousands more to just beat them even worse. The best feeling I have is getting on the gas and feeling the incredible amounts of power slowly build to a roller coaster like acceleration. In the end, do it for yourself, not you friends your co-workers, the other people on the road, the other people on the forums. In the end you have to turn the key everytime you get in it, so do it knowing you made all those modifications and spent all that money for you and no one else.
380-400rwhp & 320-340rwtq is fine with me. Hopefully I'll have it for many years to come. It's nice to know that you're as fast or faster than 'the benchmark' 4 seater cars that pull up next to you (whether you race them or not).
Any more power than that is pushing the stock block limits past what I am safe with for a DD.

+1....I say build it and keep it under 475whp. Traction is a bitch anyway, so more power doesn't necessarily mean faster....unless your talking freeway runs. So I would recommend you build it, keep it under 475whp, and then let the other suckers like me, blow up their motors, and you learn from us. In another year we will know exactly what is needed to run 600whp safely. Remember a year ago? 380whp seemed like the magic number, but now you are seeing 450whp consistently. You should feel safe with 450whp on a built block.

I just want to get close to 450rwhp and then call it quits, plus on the way to work this morning it just hit me that I only use the power I have about 2% of the time I drive, I am just not able to actually use the power I've got.
should i get FI, should I not? I change my mind with every other thread...
is it going to cost $6k or $8k or $10k or $20k (if you blow something bad)?
use oem ecu piggy back or get a $1k upgrade?
for what a measly 100% more horsepower?
(geez, that sounds nice now that I think about it again)
but can you use it - 100% more used 2% of the time - that's really like 2% more power, right? hehe - for $10k. nice!
thanks a lot guys! it's threads like these that make the decision harder than ever...

dont get me wrong.. im not debating the fact about going f/i or not.. DEF GO F/I there is nothing like it.. we are talking about taking the f/i to the limits and achieving the crazy amounts of power..
