Goodyear belt on vortech

Hi guys, been lurking a long time on these forums and about to make a vortech purchase. I contacted the guys at CP and asked about the gates belt. They recommended the goodyear belt designed for the smaller pulley and said it fits on stock and works better than the gates belt. Any comments on this?

I had Goodyear Gatorback V-belt on my previous ride and they were great. It was used on a 2.8" Supercharger pulley on the Solara. The belt had alot of grip and it was quiet. Beside it came with a lifetime warranty. I had good luck with Goodyear belts. Just my 2cents.

The Goodyear belt works great , BUT , it stretches alot and you will need to keep adjusting it all the time . It is a thinner belt than the gates belt and the ribs are cross cut to make it more flexable . Im actually thinking ao trying it again , to see if it slips less with the high boost Im going to be making with the T-trim [ 14 to 16psi ] I'll have to adjust it alot more and buy a new one more often though

At the moment i'm not looking to go higher boost. I just want to do the least tightening possible. Does the gates slip with the stock pulley? Should I go gates instead if I want to run stock?

I like the Gates belt better because the Gatorback stretches like crazy!

I actually used the shorter Gates belt for the 3.12 pulley on my stock Vortech pulley.

The tension adjuster is backed all the way out and we stretched it to fit. Now I have plenty of adjustment.

LOL, the guys at CP Racing are just too lazy to drive down the street and buy you a GATES belt. They sell the GATES belt on the cpracing website.
