Looking to make about 450hp SAFE with a greddy TT kit. Ive added a fuel return and timing harness with the EU blue. I REALLY just want to get the car on the road. But while the motor is out Im thinking about just building the bottom end. Thoughts?

Since it is already out, it would be, and always is a good idea to at least do the forged rods and pistons and slight compression drop on a TT'ed motor. More peace of mind at least.

Steve

This is my opinion.
I would just fine tune what you have, You will need to find the tune as the good old boys said in NHRA. When you build drivability in you tune up, you will find a package that nobody can copy. You should be proud of what you have done. Your the driver, Now drive.

This isnt for the G. I bought a 04 350z and its got a Greddy kit on it along with a few other things. I got a great deal on it from a dealer that took it in on trade with a blown motor. So Ive found a used long block and bought it today for 1200.00 I also picked up a full fuel return used for 300.00 Ill mod the car a little for looks and to make it a safe driver. The thing is Im not looking for a beast. The wife is going to be driving it 90% of the time. Im really stuck on this. Pulling the motor in this car is CAKE! So it being out now isnt that big of a deal.

You know what to do. You have some fun work ahead of you, And my Guess is you will discover. you had all the awnser's all along. Drivability is what wins races. Your wife will love you for it. Maybe its your time and show the boys on 350z what a good tune is. Your the man Steve!!

VQ30det rods and crank since it won't take any machine work and then get cams. Cheapest way to a safe reliable motor.

Curious... what commonly available pistons work with the VQ30 rods? Also, what is the end result displacement and compression?

Stock pistons work. Our pistons aren't the problem on the stock motor, it's the rods. No machine work has to be done. Just new bearings. The rods have the same size small end but different big end. It nets out a 3.2L with a 8.5:1 compression.
