Retune with every new modification?

After the initial tune, when adding a new mod to a FI car, would you have to retune the car to reduce the possibility of detonation/ping and/or utilize the maximum power of the mod?

What type of mods would constitute a new tune?

Obviously any mod that affects a/f ratios. A free flowing exhaust would require a re-tune. A plenum or header change would also. Without a retune...you just have the danger of running too lean. obviously mods that dont affect a/f such as wheels or xenon bulbs (being overly drastic in my selections but you get the point) won't require them.

I'm sure that didnt anser your question to you rliking...but its a start

yeah what g8tor said. Anything that changes your air or fuel. If for instance you get bigger injectors and up the boost, you should retune.

If it's just a few things like headers or hf cats then their would be no need to change the timing so the tuning could be done on the road to dial in the af. You don't have to run to the dyno after every single mod if you can tune it yourself.

Look at it this way spend a couple of hundred for a retune, or thousands to rebuild your engine later.

Maybe it doesn't require a retune, but why take the chance?
