Turbonetics Stage 1.5 new info and some more news from Turbonetics!!

So I was up at Turbonetics this last Friday discussing some things regarding the kit and discussing Stage 1.5. The skinny on stage 1.5 is there will be two ways to get it. First is if you have Stage 1 they will send you the upgraded parts. Second is to order it as a complete kit. If you have stage 1 already heres what you get:

550 cc injectors
User tuneable EMS system with the following features:
-user tuneable maps
-Multimap functionality (2 maps)
-A map selection switch to change between the two maps
-Closed loop boost control that can have to boost curves assigned to each tuning map to give you a high boost map and tune or low boost map and tune
-Bluetooth access to the EMS to apply real time correction changes are to monitor real time correction data
-Complete plug and play. No cutting, splicing, replacing of wiring. Complete plug and play harness to install
-High quality boost control solenoid
A fuel return setup including an external fuel pressure regulator and required hardware. The fuel return system is still in R&D so details are not complete for me to post but I will when it is

Now if you have Stage 1 you will get all of the above parts. However you could also order this as a complete kit. The complete kit would be:
Stage 1.5:
Turbonetics 60-1 Stage V ceramic ball bearing turbo
Turbonetics Evolution wastegate
Turbonetics Raptor BOV
Spearco front mount intercooler
550cc injectors
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
Tuneable EMS
Fuel return system
All SS304 mandrel bent polished steel exhaust piping
All mandrel bent aluminum powder coated black chrome intake piping
All t-bolts on intake side
All V bands on exhaust side
All required hardware
Case of Turbonetics TS-1 oil
12,000 mile / 12 month warranty on the entire kit..

Power goals 400-450 RWHP but completely up to tuner and owner

For Stage II: Built motor required

T66 turbo
Newgen wastegate (tenative)
Turbonetics Raptor BOV
Spearco front mount intercooler
650 or 750cc injectors (tenative)
fuel return system
tuenable EMS
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
All SS304 mandrel bent polished steel exhaust piping
All mandrel bent aluminum powder coated black chrome intake piping
All t-bolts on intake side
All V bands on exhaust side
All required hardware
Case of Turbonetics TS-1 oil
12,000 mile / 12 month warranty on the entire kit..

Power output: 550 RWHP but completely user tuneable

There is still the Stage 1 kit you can get which is the current kit as is...I don't have pricing on the Stage 1.5 upgrade or complete kit yet. I can tell you for the upgrade it will be comparible to what it would cost to purchase those items from the current market but of course a bit cheaper The complete Stage 1.5 kit I have no idea what pricing will be since they have not yet determined what its going to cost for the return setup... Stage II will be a bit more then Stage 1.5 due to the bigger injectors and completely custom compressor and housing for it. But anyways thats the scoop for now. Road and full dyno testing for Stage 1.5 should be starting in the next couple weeks. Turbonetics has someone working on this kit pretty steady as well as others working on other things so hopefully news will come soon...

Sounds like a really sweet set-up! I was really torn on either the TN or the HKS. TN has great customer service and the kits seem to be really impressive. The reason I chose the HKS primarily because of the quality but also just to be different But the TN kit would definitely have been the only other way I would have gone FI.

I need to start working on a plan to buy and install it without my wife knowing.

It was hard enough to justify $10k let alone more money a few months down the road.

I'm all over the stage 1.5. Sign me up whenever that's available! Any word on what EMS they're going to use? There are so many issues with the standard piggyback eManage / Unichip setups since the stock ECU will adapt and pull back or advance timing over time...

Actually I have not heard of the ECU learning its way around the Unichip or EU for that matter...no final word yet but I like what i see so far...

Well the Unichip and EU work by tweaking inputs to the ECU used to reference timing and fueling, so they basically put an offset on the whatever timing the stock ECU is trying to run. The stock ECU timing numbers move around over time depending on your driving style. For example, if you run around on high octane fuel for a while, the ECU will slowly start advancing the timing because it's rarely seeing knock. Then if you suddenly switch back to 91 octane, you're going to ping like crazy and ECU is going to pop in to save it's *** mode like crazy until the ECU relearns and drops the average timing down. So in general if you run the same setup (same fuel, similar driving style) and have decent maps in the Unichip or EU (that don't try and retard timing far when off boost) then you should be ok generally. I'm just not a fan of spoof solutions that alter MAF signals and crank angle sensor signals that otherwise rely on offsetting mostly unknown stock map behaviors.

You are free to blow your engine up if you so desire.
