FI questions for 06 5AT Coupe...
FI questions for 06 5AT Coupe...
I'm going to trade in my 2004 coupe for an 06 coupe 5AT.
I want a supercharger or turbo charger.
This will be my daily driver.
I don't race.
I just want more power safely and with some peace of mind.
What would you guys recommend?
What other parts other than just the kit would I need?
I live in Boston, MA.
Any good places around here that can do installs on FI kits?

For a reliable daily driver your best bet is a supercharger. For the money you'd probably go with Vortech (everyone else who goes SC uses Vortech) for the most part. A really good tune as we have all stated to people in your situation is the best hing you can do for your car. For extra security you can get things like knock sensors, wideband A/F meters and so on. But an SC will give you the linear curve that is less stressful on your drivetrain that a TT setup. I would also STRONGLY recommend a new clutch and flywheel if you want to have any chance on putting that power to the ground (in your case a valve body upgrade). Additionally, I think the A/T need a bleed valve if I am not mistaken. An A/T FI guys jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong.
DO some research on SCer's . The Vortech , HKS , ATI Procharger , and Stillen . See what one suits your needs . If your plans are for more hp down the line , and most of us do end up wanting more . The Voretech , Procharger are more than likely the better choice . The HKS and Stillen will have better trq. down low , but will make less hp up top .
I dont know much at all about turbo's , but Im sure [ if installed right ] can be just as reliable . They are just a litle more involved and there is a little more there to keep track of .
And most importent is to find a good shop that has installed the kit you choose . What ever kit you choose , ask the guys that have had it on for a while about any problems that may arise or things to look out for . Take your time choosing a kit .

I've heard good things about Vortech but seems like everyone is uprgrading to turbos.
I honestly wouldn't be looking for more power afterwards.
I would be very happy with like 380rwhp.
I don't want to do too much extra.
minor things here and there to make it work properly is fine.
I also would not want gauges...I don't like how it looks.

Are the gauges something that you constantly have to look at?
Also I can't seem to find on anyones website if their superchargers work (for 100% certain) on an 05-06 G35 Coupe 5AT.
Has anyone installed a supercharger in their 05-06 5AT coupe?
I really just want a bolt on FI kit without much other stuff.
I thought Vortech was the best for this?

I did a lot of research and decided to go with the Stillen Stage 2. It has lower HP/TQ output than the other kits but because of where the power comes in it is still very similar when compared to the other S/C S/T kits. But if you want the #'s it is not the kit for you, 380whp is not possible without a lot of work. I like the fact that I don't have to get up in the RPM to get that power kick since I do a lot of city driving I knew my MPG would go way down always trying to boost above 3500rpm. I like the warranty and simple installation; I did not want to have to drill into my block like with the Vortech. And yes there is the hood but I like it on my black sedan.
That's my 2 cents...

I personally like the feeling of the boost kicking in around 3500. I wouldn't go supercharger crazy and constantly have my car above 3500. Its better that way I think. When you drive easy...you can drive easy...but when you push it ... here it comes.
I've heard there are many people that get between 360-400 hp with their vortechs with stock engines.

Someone correct me if im wrong. But isn't vortech supercharger or any supercharger for that matter only good for being a low 13 sec car? that doesn't seem very fast to me. IM sure there have been timeslips of vortech supercharged Gs doing below 13 sec, but i believe majority of vortech supercharger users are only running low 13s. If thats the case, Wouldn't it be more worth it to stay NA, because i can just about get all the bolt ons and cams with a good tune and maybe some 3.9 gears and i would be running low 13s as well, and i would have the reliability of staying NA and it'll probably cost around the same as a vortech supercharger. Again, im not a expert, so im hoping somebody that is a expert can correct me if im wrong.
I have an 04 now.
I have the motordyne plenum spacer and intake.
Not enough power.
The only way I am getting into another coupe is to put a supercharger in...it'll make different.
I don't think 280 or 298 is enough power.
that's all.

I have stillen stage2...just upgrade to stage3...and I love the feeling of this kit (just like a V8)

FI has completely changed the G for me. Anyone who is FI will tell you that the NA mods, although fun and great at adding solid NA power, will never be as fun to drive as FI. With a TT set up the sudden explosion of intense power when they spool. The hard pull on the top end from a Supercharger. Irreplacable. Plus once you start looking at cams, and INTENSE n/a mods your reliability can tank just as much as if you went FI. Plus, power for the dollar spent FI will get you the numbers with far less money than staying NA and trying to achieve the same goals.
