Interestingly enough, Turbo magazine has an article in their latest edition covering something exactly like this. Supercharger and Turbo on a MR6, a lot of design work has to go into such a system and because of the horsepower potential, engine work is required.

Agreed, the twin charger system from HKS is a turbo blowing into a supercharger. It is done and is costly.
The supercharger helps spool up a massive turbo, helping lag, while adding boost early.
This system will not be available for our cars, unless HKS or some other tuner creates it. NISMO/Infiniti Rspec will have no such system, It will be an either/or not both. (turbo, superchager)

I bet the first one that was spoken about was a chip and not a super charger. I think that the chip would have to be inputted for either a super or a turbo to work correctly anyway.

imagine the sound of the turbos and sc working in conjunction.... first the whine of the sc... then the turbo... then top it off with a HUGE MASSIVE blow-off....... damn....

LOL that's what i'm talking about "PSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT".

I was only 2 so I heard this from a friend. But I heard in 1980 GM did testing with a superchared/ turbo car. I can't find any info on it.

Turbo/ supercharger can be done.

So 50 horses for a chip or supecharger. And an additional 80 for the TT set up. Nice! that's what? 410 horsepower all together. Man! I'd be going through tires every other week. With just the VDC off and the 280 horsepower, I can swing that rear around easier than I thought. Imagine what you could do with 410! SMOKE a M3!!!! As long as it wasn't modified aswell. Lol.... hehehehe.

Re: twin turbos are coming

if you really wanna get technical.... M3s are modified cars that are sold through the dealer.... so when we get our R-Spec, those M3 guys will have nothing to say but to surrender!!!!!!!!! ^_^

Re: twin turbos are coming

no... M stands for Motorsports...

So here is the break down: M (motorsports) 3 (based on 3 series)
Ex. M1 (Motorsports 1series) M5 (Motorsports 5 series) M3, and M6... remember there is no M7.. BMW M thought it was too heavy to be a sports car.

don't forget X5 4.6i, which was tuned by the M Gmbh, but didn't bear the M sign because it was too heavy and had no manual transmission....

Re: twin turbos are coming

Plus, what would you call it, anyway? M5 is taken, and MX5 is already associated with Miatas....

Re: twin turbos are coming

how about simply MX??? that's out of sync with their naming policy, but if you think about it, X is roman numero for 10... so at least it retains the M+number scheme.... I've always thought X5 was a terrible name and didn't suit the BMW lineup....
