i own an 02wrx. yeah, i know ... that's y i'm researching G35's. i haven't seen any plans for Infiniti to make production G's with boost so i have some questions for those of you that have turbos and SC's.
first, i notice most of you have SC's rather than ST or TT, why is that?
second, what are the stock motor's limits since they are N/A? and what would need to be built for broad 100whp increments? (3-400, 4-500, etc.)
lastly, what are the drivetrains'(both AT and MT) limits? this is important because i'm coming from subaru's "glass" tranny.
i plan on having a daily driver, sleeper, that is just about scary to drive. i figure ~500whp should just about do it.

I could give you a little input, but im sure the TT guys will chime in. Im going Vortech S/C because of the better reliability. Obviously when you fo FI the reliability goes down, but w/ the Vortech it seems more people have less complaints and horror stories, plus there are limits w/ the Vortech so you cant get outta hand. The limits for the 6MT are right around 450rwhp, there are some people on stock internals near 500rwhp and havent blown their motor/tranny, so its really the way you drive.
If you want 500whp you will need to build the internals and go big ST or TT. All the turbo kits can get there with no problem. I don't think you are going to get there with a S/C.
My friend Tony at UMS Tuning is going for 600whp on aG35 coupe right now with the Greddy kit converted to 20G's and a built motor.

i do prefer turbos. i actually prefer TT over monstrous ST. so if I bought a G35c with AT i would need stronger internals in motor and what for tranny?? valve body something and high-stall torque converter? i don't feel like burnouts all day every stop and go. and MT would need complete rebuild?
maybe i need to lower my expectations seeing as how i plan on starting a family a few years after i finally get out of school and plan on getting a new car upon graduation.
