Turbo kit or Supercharger?

I am considering one of the two options.. turbo kit or supercharger. My question is which one would be better for daily use. I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT Bone Stock. Is one better than the other? If so, what else should I include in this upgrade to enhance the performance without going overboard.

If you just want more power for daily use get a supercharger, but the power is limited and you may eventually want more.

If you are ready to spend a decent amount of money for a nice amount of power

I too am also very interested in what other upgrades I would need to do to my 2006 6mt stock to get a turbo. I know that a turbo kit will run me close to 5000-$7000 but will i need to make or get any other upgrades for my car to be able to handle the extra hp?

Money doesn't matter..

I know that no matter what I choose to do.. that it's gonna cost me. But all that matters to me is the quality of the goods that I am spending my money on. I want to know which is best. I use my car daily.. I drive back and forth to my liquor store and then run a few errands during the day. On the weekend I like to go out. Once I get my Toyota 4Runner up and running I won't have to use the car so much then. So far I use about a tank of gas a week on Premium. So right now money is not an option.. I just want to know what is best for the car.

From what I heard, a turbo kit is better for daily use rather than a supercharger. Although I don't have the facts to back it up.

You can just search for turbo and/or supercharger on the FI part of the forum and read for days. You can also go to my350z.com and read articles on there.

5000-7000 for a turbo kit is not going to happen. You might be able to get a base turbonetics kit installed for 7k but you will still need gauges and other things.

The best way to go is twin-turbo. It spools up very fast so there is almost no lag. They are reliable when tuned properly. They make tons of power and are tons of fun. The problem is a good TT kit will run you ~$10k installed and tuned once you factor in all the little stuff.

Another option is single turbo. You get similar peak HP/TQ numbers to the TT kits but there is more turbo lag. They are a little less money and a little easier to install. I just don't like all the lag you get with them.

You can go the supercharger path. They are easier to install and cheaper. They make less power but still way more than stock. That is the way I went and I would be happy to talk to you about that more if you are interested. Just send me a PM or look at my previous posts, there is a good supercharger discussion I have been posting in today.

Again it all boils down to how much you want to spend...

Yes, Exactly. If you are looking for the most horsepower, then go with a TT.

thank god there is finally someone that knows what questions to ask... guys its not that hard... you have to first figure out cost, power, and use... if you are going to use it as a daily driver get a supercharger or a small trim turbo system... if you want a dyno queen use a turbo system with big turbos... if you have no money or are not prepared for a bill thats 8000+ dollars... do not chase after forced induction... just letting you guys know... forced induction is expensive... and it doesnt just stop at the 5000 dollar kit... there is tuning involved... and dont give me.. "the kit provides a basemap" crap... every car is different... it needs tuning or you will have a bigger problem on your hands like a hurt piston or a completely blown engine... the VQ35 was not made to handle gobs of power as well... if you are having high horsepower aspirations i would tell you to rip apart the motor... get new rods and lower compression pistons... then pop on the turbo kit... you also need an upgraded clutch to handle the new power your engine came up with... but hey... do what you want... it aint my car

This guy is absolutely right. When you do FI, you can't cheap out on anything. If the best tuner for your setup is a couple of hundred miles away, you've gotta do whats best for the car. You have to realize, mistakes can happen, variables can go out of spec. Its possible for a motor to just fail for a lot of reasons which can me magnified with FI due to higher cylinder pressures and fuel dependencies. Thats the risk. If you purchase an FI kit, you have to ask yourself, if the motor goes, can I afford to fix it, if the answer is yes, then go full steam ahead, if its no, let the kit wait longer until either more money is saved up, or your have your hands on a 2nd motor. My $0.02
