Is your Vortech Loud?
My Vortech is pretty loud.
There is a pretty loud gargle at like 650rpm (idle).
I talked to INFINITI and they said that they can't raise the idle RPM because its just automatically controlled by the ECU.

My s/c pulleys are VERY loud. They rattle like crazy. I wish there was a way to grease them or put other beaings in them. The sound seems to just resonate on the mounting plate and get louder. I wonder if we can deaden the mounting plate in any way?
I just had my idle raised to 950 rpms's and the sound at idle is much better. However, I have an early 04. I believe you are not able to adjust the idle on later 04's and newer. Most guys leave the A/C on as this raises the idle slightly.

Mine with stock idle had the typical Vortech "gargle". There have been many threads about this where some folks have isolated the noise where the return IC pipe rubs against the fender wall or near the radiator bottom.
I had my idle raised on my early '04 as well. I have not heard that later '04s and up cannot raise idle. I watched the tech at Grubbs Infiniti do it ... took him about 15 seconds!!! They just plugged in their handheld diagnostic tool under the drivers dash, pushed the up arrow for the idle and then hit save. I only bumped mine up to 750 which is just above the "rattle" point so it will sometimes still drop below that point for a moment but overall it is fine.

You can lower the noise a bit by loosening up the cog belt a bit until you can just move it with the palm of your hand. Other people have done this. Works for me too. You'll never completely get rid of the garble just lessen it. That's the nature of centrifugal SCs.
ask who their lead tech is, then ask to talk with them. He'll know what's up. All nissan dealers have a master tech who knows his stuff
raising the idle really really helps the vortech kill off a lot of the belt noise and make any of the wavy whistling sound steady

there is an easy way to raise you idle, but you may not like it!!!
Drill a small hole in your throttle body. Increase the size of the hole until you reach the desired idle RPM.
It works on other cars; it should work on the G, too.

I'll see what I can have the tech do.
No drilling for me.
