Which built motor? You chose!

If money is no object (which it maybe but for now lets pretend.) Which of these builds would you chose for a vortech install (moderate boost). Keep in mind Im not looking for the most expensive but rather the most reliable for the power. I probably will not have over 450hp either way. Is the short block acceptable ? Or is it better to just get the long block the first time?

Also which would you chose for a TT application.

that's hard to say with only going for 450hp - (whp?)

IMO eagle rods are fine for the vortech

short block sounds like all you'd need

Porting the heads and some cams never hurt, but you can get 450whp with a 2.87 pulley fuel system and full exhast anyway

Thanks for the feedback. I am assuming this means the "upgraded" short block

A fully built long block usually runs about $12k, give or take $1k, no matter what vendor you go with... I personally think that if you want to have the motor built, then it only makes sense to do it all at once in order to avoid a weak link. But for your goals, I wouldn't think you need it. The '06 comes with forged rods and holds up a lot better than the '04/'03. I'm currently pushing 465whp with the stock block and heads on my '06 and don't have any issues (knock on wood). Although I'm planning on building the motor this winter in search for more power gains, it's more of a want than a need. If you're only after 450, then it's completely do-able on the stock motor...

Just my $.02

s1ameze... careful:
all g35 models come with forged rods... they're just thin as pencils.

Agree. Everything is see, hear, read points to engine failure at about 500rwhp. I'm pushing the line and will look to build before going any higher. This is also where I'll say that TUNE IS EVERYTHING!!! Make sure that any FI track you take is professionally tuned. If you're a home pro, then great. But if you have any doubt in your ability to safely tune your car, then suck it up and take it to a shop... It'll cost more up front, but less in the long run...

Nuff said.

What's differnt in the 06 that would make it "hold up a lot better"? I think less 06s are dying cause there are less approved kits available. Unless you know of a change in the internals?
