Forged internals.

Guys I am looking into going forged and need to get some advice on prices shops charge, really looking for people who have gone this route already.

I called a local place here in the bay area and they stated 9,000. This is for removal and installation of the block and then having all internal work done and then having it static balanced, lastly tuned.
Is this a good price as I think it is a little high.

Any feedback welcome thanks.

JE pistons, Eagle rods and ARP head bolts, the rest is the normal things you would expect with an engine rebuild. I am also droping compression to 9.5.1

Are they working your motor or doing a core exchange? Are you doing this for more power or strength/longevity? Does the downtime matter?

What shop? Where in Ca are you? We have an **** load of shops here so the selection is good, is it the same shop that did your vortech?

Sharif does a VERY good engine package for an amazing price...

You just need to pay labor to pull and re-install the motor..

I was planning on the pulling the motor myself and just dropping it off at the shop (save some money). I am planning on going to a bigger blower so yes I want to strengthen the block for longevity and downtime is not a gatting item. I do not want to mention the shop as a lot of the TT guys go there but it is not far from me, I am located an hour from Sac., the shop that did my Vortech was actually not a shop but a buddy on this board.

MIAPLAYA I called Sharif yesterday and picked a few parts from him but when we spoke about blocks he said that they in the process of moving to a bigger place and were going to offer packages but it looks like that is a great price, thanks.

Yeah for what you get that price is a steal. That piston and rod combo will handle anything you throw at it and then some...

Right now it is not commercial release, I am working with another person on this. As far as I know i will be the third person to have it on their car but they have also worked on putting another cog on the plate to shorten the distance of the belt travel, it brings in boost much quicker...I have heard that full boost is reached as soon as 4500rpm, we will have more power than any othe SC on the market plus way more down below like the Stillen
I will let you know more once I install it on my car, don't want to post until I have the dyno.

If you reach "full" boost at 4500rpm's, what is happening above this rpm? I've seen someone talk about a custom wastegate setup...

I'm very interested to see how this works out, keep us posted

Depending on what pulley size and other mods you have then you are pretty much set to a certain psi for example I boost 9.5 psi on my setup so full boost of 9.5 psi at 4500rpm to 7200rpm.
