then theyll have to come out with the Nissan 250Z. if infiniti wants to make a car with a smaller motor, they shoul do it under a different model line. although, they would sell a ton of little "3" emblems to the ricers looking to rebadge

infiniti should have G25 with RWD and 200+hp
there is definitily a market for it
(luxury brand + luxury interior + good MPG + RWD ++ reasonable price) = FTW!!!

I think it would be great. If they got the weight down to 3,000lbs or so.

250z would not be a smart move
the Z is a pure sports car, a 200HP sport car would be WEAKKK
unless they make a smaller body with lighter weight... 350Z should still be the only Z..

There already are what is technically a G25 sold in Japan - The 250GT.

The 250GT is the same as the 350GT/G35, but with the 2.5ltr (VQ25DD 2.5ltr 158kW V6 Engine – 107kw/tonne), there is also a 270GT, which is the 2.7ltr version of the G37. Same car, smaller engine. There is also a 3ltr version of the G35, the 300GT, but I dont think they were very popular (VQ30DD 3.0ltr 191kW V6 Engine – 128kw/tonne)

I should note though that they are sedan versions only.

I agree. I think there would be a market for it as well. I don't know the sales figures, however I am guessing the number of IS250s sold far outnumber IS350 sales.

I see more IS250s than 350s. Could be the AWD? For the record, I liked the TSX and would have considered one except I needed a bit more room and to spend a bit less cash. Plus I wanted RWD or AWD. Nice car, though, I was admiring one just this morning. But no way would I give up the G for it.

Where do you get this info?

Here's the Skyline 350GT (3.5L) and 250GT (2.5L):
http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/LINEUP/lineup_07.html

Here's the Skyline Coupe (3.7L only):
http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/LINEUP/lineup_32.html

Press release for the '08 Coupe:
http://jalopnik.com/cars/new-cars/20...pan-305977.php
The new Skyline coupe is available in four models, each equipped with the new 3.7-liter VVEL V6: 370GT, 370GT Type P, 370GT Type S and 370GT Type SP.
There is no 300GT, nor is there a 2.7L Coupe.

I had the same impression of the TSX. It was a great drive, but the FWD killed it. At roughly 15-20% less than the G35, it was also a bargain. If the rumored 2.3L turbo TSX with SH-AWD comes to market, it may be a contender to the G35.

I think if Infiniti needed to increase its G35 sales it would go downmarket with a 2.5L model, but I think their sales figures have been doing so well that it's currently not worth their effort.

I seriously considered the TSX, too, but what killed it for me was th complete lack of style. It's just about the most boring looking car out there, imo. Now you take a car like that and put Infiniti's styling panache to it, and you'd really have something.

270GT? Where do you get this misinformation from? IIRC the "lesser" engines are only available in the Sedan. For the V35, there was no 250GT Coupe, there was only a 250GT Sedan. There was no 300GT Coupe, there was only a 300GT Sedan. The Coupe was only available with the 3.5L V6 in the form of the 350GT Coupe.

Similarly with the V36 gen Coupe (G37 in the US), the car is only available in 3.7L form in Japan. THERE IS NO 270GT (2.7L) COUPE. There's a 2.5L and a 3.5L Sedan, but the Coupe is ONLY AVAILABLE in 3.7L form. Besides, if Nissan were to do a base engine V36 Coupe, it'd be a 250GT (2.5L) Coupe. It'd be a waste of time and money to develop a separate 2.7L version of the HR motor for BASE ENGINE duty when they already have the 2.5L on hand.

A V6 G25 with 200+ hp will definitely sell tons and I don't think it will tarnish the brand at all.

I'd be willing to bet that Infiniti will wise up after seeing how much $$$ it's losing to the IS250 in sales.

Really? Please explain. Consider the following before you respond...

IS250 MSRP $30,255 - $34,285
G35 MSRP $31,450 - $34,050
