All specualtion... no proof.

I'm sure Infiniti will enter the performance market sooner or later though; they seem to be the only Luxury department out of it now that Lexus has also joined BMW, Benz, & Audi.

+1. The G35 targeted the 3 series because it is the benchmark of the entry level luxury segment. Not the M3. Any advantages the G35 had over the 3 series in terms of horse power, price and size was to attract buyers. Not to offer M3 performance for less.

Also despite what I have read, I believe the G35 replaced the I35 moreso than the G20. I don't think the G20 was a 3 series competitor nor do I feel the I35 was a GS or 5 series competitor. That would imply the I35 was replaced by the M45. The problem is Infiniti didnt have enough cars to compete, but I think they would consider a 1 series competitor before they consider a car between the G35 and the M35.
