the GTr will still be superb.
the GTr is out of the M3's league.

plus all those infiniti owners who want more, and dont like the look of that GTR or that pesky nissan badge.

Um yeah, people are going to spend $150-$20 grand more NOT to to have a Nissan badge. Right.

alright, first off, the new G will only be running low 13's...the GTR is gonnna be running like low 12's

secondly the cars look entirely different, its not like they will be buying the same car but with an infiniti badge instead.

and third, im sure there are many infiniti owners out there who dont know that infiniti is nissan. i sure as hell know there are a bunch of non-infiniti owners who dont know, seeing as how ive had to tell them numerous times.

and at 57K for a sporty G and 70k for a supercar nissan, it looks like theyll have all the bases covered.

IMHO, anyone with 1/2 a brain will realize that if they can get GT-R performance for $15 grand less, won't buy a GT-R.

Especially if they use the same VQ37HR based TT motor.

Anyone shopping for something like this, knows Infiniti is Nissan's luxury division. It's not rocket science.

it wont be GTR performance. the GTR has more power, better suspension, brakes, and is lighter.

the G37 TT will be the luxury supersport coupe.

the CL65 AMG or whatever, has like 700 HP and torque, which practically match the Mclaren Mercedes, but for some odd reason you still see the MClaren sell right??

What makes you think the GT-R is after the new M3?

It's Infiniti's job to take care of BMW. Saying a "super G37" will affect GT-R sales is like saying the G35 Coupe affected the 350Z's sales. It won't affect it... atleast not negatively.

IMHO infiniti won't cater to such narrow purchasing niches. I don't think the M series BMW represent enough sales vs the rest of the non-M versions to warrant them making a new car. But I guess I can see Nissan wanting to use the TTVQ in other platforms to help offset costs.

What the hell, if they do it, great. Would be cool to have a G that actually has available mods that work. lol.

Also the G37 is luxury like the BMW while the Gt-R is more raw sport like the 350z. So making a high-performance G37 luxury coupe would but it right there with the M3.

Last reports I read say the GT-R is not based on the VQ series at all. ( I think they said all new VR something)

if it is an m3 competitor, wouldn't it be a vq v8?

The GTR is gonna have 450 hp, and be a 3.8 sec car at maybe as low as $55k.
The GTR's bench mark is the 911 Turbo...and this is just the base model....

There will be 3 versons.

The Base...

The V spec.....

and the EVO.....that is said to be 530 HP....later in the year when it
comes out.

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/272123

The Motor is not a VQ but a VR38....it will be a lighter engine with 473 lbs of
torque...

The GTR is going to be a avenue that most Nissan fans in the US never had
before....the chance to drive a serious Supercar from the Pacific rim....

This being said....the G37 may be getting the technology the GTR has later
on. A TT would seem likely. It would be a Super G for sure.

A Super G and the GT-R would definitely be in different leagues. Infiniti is trying to take care of BMW, Lexus, and Acura. The Nissan GT-R is trying to take care of Porsche's 911, Chevy's Vette, and other high HP cars in that segment. The super G and GT-R would most likely be cross-shopped, but the hardcore performance enthusiasts really dont care much about the luxurious interiors and tech goodies, so theyd settle for the GT-R. If Infiniti was infact to release a super G, Nissan is not stupid enough to have it be released with the same HP as the GT-R. As we all know, with turbo applications, increase in power is easy to attain but the GT-R will always be the better handling and corner carving car. If we have the G at 36K-40K, the super G at 49K-55K, and the GT-R at 58K-70K, I think Nissan/Infiniti will have all their markets covered. In any case, Infiniti would definitely take a big bite out of the market from the IS-F and the M3. I only see positives in this plan....

Japan could easily do with a Infiniti version of the GTR, so I honestly see it happening pretty soon. Whether or not it lands in the US is another thing I suppose.
