You mentioned the GTR, but the GTR is not a 4 door sedan, so why would you even bring that up to your comparasion between the 335xi sedan, and the g35x sedan?

I'm willing to bet that all that engine needs are rods and pistons to run FI and still pass OEM durability testing.
You sound like a racer to me so I'm sure you know guys have been running FI on non-FI stock engines for 100k miles as long as the tune was done by a pro who was conservative with Air/Fuel ratios and timing.

The 3.7 will probably happen.

Nissan/Infiniti just 'dropping in rods/pistons' for an OEM turbo version of the 3.7 in the G35x will not happen.

No matter how much you, or Nissan, wants to deny it,
the GTR, G35, and G37 are all the SAME car.

They are even built on the SAME assembly line.
Believe It!

Uh huh, they are all the same cars, just like a corvette and the cadilac CTS V or the camaro's..

having the same type of engine doesn't make them the same type of car..

and the GTR is a 2 door car, compared to the awd g35x, which is a 4 door SEDAN..

This post shows how much you really know.
For your info,
the Cadillac XLR and the Corvette have DIFFERENT engines but are basically the same car.
Different engine, trans, and roof does not make it a different car.
Both examples have the same chassis and are built on the VERY same assembly line.

I didn't mention the XLR anywhere.. I mentioned the CTS-V!!

Would you like me to fedex you some glasses?

You know what? I think you should go ahead and just buy the 335xi.. I think it will be perfect for you.

The G35x is very underpowered, it won't help you at all... good luck with the BMW!!

Check my sig,
I have all the power I'll ever need.
What did your "brutal" VR4 run in the 1/4 mile????

I know you didn't mention the XLR.
You didn't mention it because you didn't know that the XLR and the C6 share the same chassis.

Both sets of cars (Corvette/XLR and GTR/G35) are built on the same chassis, on the same assembly line, and are the same car whether you want to admit it or not.
Do your homework.

ohh no you didnt!!! Bringing up my baby vr4!!

Stock 1994 vr4 does the quarter mile in low 14s or high 13s. Considering my car was more than 10 years old, that seems like good numbers to me.

I was quite happy with the "brutal" power of my vr4, as i am happy with my g35 coupe as well, i could have bought a vette, but then i won't be able to seat my friends when the time comes..

Yes, all the power you'll ever need.. good luck with that..

So when are you buying the bmw?

Is anyone here "in the know" about future Infiniti/Nissan products?
If you are "in the know",
does Infiniti have any plans (or are considering) offering a OEM turbo version of the G35x sedan?

It would be awesome if Infiniti offered something like a Nissan GTR in a sedan.
The major thing that turn me off about the GTR is the coupe layout;
especially considering that the GTR weighs as much as a G35x sedan.
Some how I think they may have thought about this...a TT infiniti can happen
with a successful GTR. It would definitely get the BMW 335i into some real competition with Infiniti in the speed department.

Not since the 2002 G35 sedan and the BMW 330i has infiniti directly challenged BMW 1/4 mile and 0 to 60 performance with better numbers.

This is such a stupid thread. You want to have credible sources, just use common sense.

Why would Infiniti blow all that R&D money to slap twin turbos on an Infiniti? They don't need twin turbos just because the 335i just so happens to have them. Should cars like the CTS, IS350 and C350 slap turbos on too? Hell the C350 is the slowest car of the bunch but I don't think Mercedes cares too much. If people wanted a car just because it went fast, then they'd just buy some beat up old muscle car.

Most people aren't going to care that the 335i is slightly faster than a G especially since the G is about $8,000 cheaper than a comparable 335i.

Infiniti should expand its line up with more high selling cars (which would not include a GT-R derivative). Infiniti should take what it did with the G, and expand on that. Improve on the M and release a new Q. Infiniti needs to establish that it too is capable of being a reputable luxury automaker. Notice Audi didn't start building their R supercar and their S5's until they started establishing a much better name for themselves. This is what Infiniti needs to do. Why waste all that R&D money on making a supercar derivative when that R&D money can be put towards designing a car that will sell in far higher numbers hence make Infiniti a lot more money?
