New Z to be revealed this NOVEMBER!

So now it’s final. Nissan will showcase the next new Z-Car at the L.A. Auto Show this November. This will be the real thing, not a teaser, according to a source, who added that the car looks ‘fantastic.’’

A lot of blurb on the new Z is already out in cyberspace but yes, the new Z will be shorter than now (some four-inches, apparently) but a touch wider, still have two-seats and yes, power will come from the same excellent 3.7-liter V-6 found in the Infiniti G37 Coupe.

So welcome the 370Z and while the new design will be evolutionary, we understand it’s still instantly and unmistakably a Z. Roll on November.

limited number of a tt i think would be good... please don't bring up the 300zxtt, i'm not saying major production car... but just enough to keep interest high. i don't think the added extra weight of the tt setup will adversly affect weight distribution. how many of us, would've been interested in a factory turbo setup? that's all i'm saying.

Pointless. Its already been established the car will come with the VQVHR37 . Would you like the Z to be discontinued again like the previous gen? That was the main reason it WAS discontinued, simply because it was too expensive a vehicle for its market. If you TT the Z, how in the f*ck would Nissan distinguish it from the GT-R? The USDM Z will NEVER see factory FI.

^I agree with that. Interest will be high without a tt since a new generation has been overdue for a while and the Z brings a great heritage.

The new Z sounds like an interesting proposition. I'm mostly interested with the weight since we have a decent idea of the power of the 3.7, which is likely a bit more in the Z.

i was actually thinking of a replacement entirely based off of previous platforms (jdm nissan 180 - s13, s14 days). what is wrong with those engines? they are inexpensive, light, and easy to modify. my 180 was extremely fun to drive, almost as much fun as the r32. it was lighter, and more nimble - isn't this where nissan intends to go anyway?

like i said about the 300zxtt, i was not referring to the dozens of additional features that came standard with it (like lancer to evo, wrx - sti, bmw 328 - 335, mustang - mustang gt, neon to srt-4). not the exact engine from the gt-r, but an f/i version of a platform that already exists. i don't understand the opposition when there are 100's of people involved with the f/i forum right here who have put in their own, and would not have had to, had it come with it.

maybe someone here could explain why a turbo'd engine (from the factory) would cost more than 2k over the current price. since usually turbo'd models come with better brakes (z already has a model that came with brembos), power seats (already come with those), leather (already an option), sport suspension (this option already exists as well), dvd/navi systems (already standard) the blocks are already made, the exhaust could remain unchanged, why would it cost more than 2k more? and who wouldn't pay for that?

the 300zxtt had many additional features that added to the pricing that doomed it.

it would not be aftermarket, there is no tuning, the parts would be mass produced, there is no 'additional' plumbing - all of the things we pay for aftermarket -
there were many reasons why it was discontinued.

maybe i'm missing the point - entirely possible. but i don't get why people think that a turbo raises the price 15-20k. please shed some light on this for me.

by the way, the bmw 328 - 335 is only a $6,500 increase, but the the standards are greater in the 335. not only do you get an enhanced motor, but you get bigger rims, better sound system, more features, suspension, tires etc... for 6k. how much of that increase was the actual turbo?

anyone?
