BMW 1-Series fighter from Infiniti possible.

With Infiniti making a go at it in Europe and the big hit success of the 1-series there and in the states, Infiniti is already feeling the need to retaliate by offering a smaller entry-level vehicle to underpin the growing G. Sources suggest a 2010 concept debut. This new car may also be targeted at the Audi A3. So this could be a small coupe or possibly a small euro only hatch-X-over (which I kinda doubt).

I'd rather see Infinity make a run at the M3 the way Lexus did with the IS-F...

Could you imagine the rocket they would have putting a variation of the GT-R's engine in a G?

That would be killer. maybe a single turbo instead of twin? Then we can always go TWIN!

^^^Infiniti already make's an M3 fighter, they market one model behind. the G37's aimed at the previous M3, not the new V8 one. they won't need an ST set up to battle the new one. they'll just bump up the displacment. any turbo infiniti in the future would be aimed higher than an M3, more likely to target the M5 or M6. that'd be NICE. as for a 1-seriese bruser, the new Z is shrinkin' down so i don't doubt that they'll have an Infiniti variant. the new Z's supposed to be smaller & lighter while using the G37 mortor bumped up to 350hp. a 3.8ltr is less likely, but they did develope a crazy NA 3.8 for the RS-Z(the Z version of the GT-3RS Porshe). So, who knows. an NA version of the 3.8 in the GT-R could be good but whatever option they choose it'll hit the new Z before it hits a new infiniti model.

I'd rather see the G with a V8 so it will have it's own identity instead of being known as a re-badged GT-R.

the g37 is aimed at the 335i bmw that is the car that is in its class. Which auto manufacture markets one model behind? thats like Coca cola marketing their products for dead people. but nonethe less i have seen the specs of the Rs-z and that car is way to over priced, but it looks nice anyway.
nissan/infinity are due for a v-8 400ish hp beast by now anyway.

Make the S15 left hand drive. Put a built SR20 in it. Badge it as an Infiniti. Game over.

That would be a good idea if the S15 was still in production...but I don't see the point of bringing back a car that was created a decade ago.

A new S16 would be cool though...

First the comments about the whole one model behind thing: I can partly understand what you are saying as the G35/37 on paper does compete more against the previous M/3 series model, but the current G37 does compete squarely against the current 3-series offers. With the Z going a step smaller that actually makes it the perfect basis for the micro-infiniti as it needs to be smaller to compete against the 1-series, but still expect something posing as backseats though.

As for the V8 comments, thats exactly what Infiniti needs, a top tier V8 coupe! Call it an M or a G I dont care, a V8 coupe with a manual trans from Infiniti would sell like hot cakes. I would rather see that than see the GTR engine detuned and dropped into another car. I think one thing lacking from Infiniti that you get in other brands is engine choice within the G-lineup.

So its settled, Nissan/Infiniti needs to build a competitive small coupe and G/M based V8 coupe with the new 5.0!

the G37 was being developed before the new 335i ever broke cover. that's what i mean by one model behind. they had the specs of the previous M3 in mind while they where developing the 37. yes, i know the 335i is the current car marketed against the G37 BUT by let's face it BMW came first & we've(Nissan/Infiniti) been following ever since. They build a great car and we try & build it for less, hence the one model behind term.

G35 was designed to emulate the E36 M3

G37 was designed to emulate the E46 M3

The formula is simple, build our version of the M3, cheaper, better looking, high tech, more reliable. So far Infiniti is clearly winning our business. I don't know about a V8 or VQ38DETT Infiniti coupe, but a high performance 4-door sedan is clearly missing from the Nissan lineup.

G38R Sedan here we go~
