This is the MT version....will the 7 speed auto be faster or the same?
Can only imagine the turbo and V8 version.....

Very nice. Still not sold on the exterior changes but the performance bump is nice.

7AT should be about the same. Definitely not faster unless the MT driver didn't know how to drive

How can you be so sure the 7at will not be faster? Wasn't the G37 sedan at least 2/10's of a second quicker in the 1/4 vs the 6MT?

Bench racing holds no credibility to me. It's not as if they raced both of them during the same tests.

The reason why I state the 7AT will not be faster is just by looking at their effective gearing. The 7AT has a significant advantage off of the lines it has a more aggresive gearing in the first 2 gears. After that, the 6MT should be quicker at its 3 higher gears (3rd gear in the 6MT is an important gear at the 1/4 mile).

Also, automatics traditionally lose a little more to the wheels than a 6MT. Though they have been improving on drivetrain loses on automatics.

Here is video from Edmunds review. Something about this Z reminds me of the Audi A5 seeing it motion. Maybe it's just wishfull thinking on my part.

Good read. I enjoyed the Edmunds review even more. Sounds like a very nice evolution for the car. I'd be interested in seeing how the new 7AT performs versus the MT.
