Thankfully, Infiniti president Johann De Nysschen (above) has stepped up to confirm that the newly revealed Q50 sedan will receive a two-door counterpart, though perhaps not as quickly as some would like. According to an interview with Australia's CarAdvice.com, De Nysschen says "the coupe we can probably expect two-and-a-half to three years down the road." That news also suggests that if there's an eventual convertible version, that it's a long way off, too. Why so long? Infiniti has "a lot of priorities" – priorities that undoubtedly include an already-confirmed front-wheel-drive small hatchback/crossover.

The report also indicates that Infiniti has some aspirations for stretching its new Q50/Q60 range in a higher-performance direction to take on competitors like BMW and Audi, the latter being De Nysschen's former employer. There's far from a firm timetable offered, of course, with De Nysschen saying "someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions [of Q50] than we have today... the dynamic capabilities of this platform are very significant. It can handle far higher power than the engines we are using at launch."
looks like they could put a v8 in there, or maybe the 3.8L turbo of the gtr!

This is going to make my G35 more valuable in the future. I approve.

As for the looks of it I think it doesn't have the distinct look like our G's do.

^LOL No it's not bro, like it or not this IS the nicest G/Q to date. I have both 1st and 2nd gen sedans and this car is miles above both them. I know a lot of 1st gen guys really like their cars but c'mon! The 2nd gen is far superior then the 1st in almost all aspects(looks are personal) as will the new Q be better then both... This can be and has been argued to death however if you ask any owner of both you will get the same answer

You have both? How long have you had them for? I was one of the 1st ones to get into a 03 back when they 1st came out and I've had my 2nd gen since 08... I made my statement based on having both cars long term. I'm not here to bicker back and forth but believe I have had these cars long enough to come to my conclusion.

Anyways this thread is about the q50, lets not veer away from that

Would put my v35 on the line against your v36 any day...beat me by enough to justify the price difference, i think not lol. All you got is a fancy interior at the end of the day. The 1st gens have *****...maybe i'm biased LOL

JaE35, the 2nd gens also have nicer headlights and tail light shape but I hear theyre not as raw and make you feel connected to the car as much as our first gens

wat about against my v36 lol im with you on this im not a fan of the new q50 maybe itll grow on me later but so far the only thing i like about it is the interior.

they shudve done more with the perfomance of the car that maybe wouldve been a deal breaker for some

If someone asks "What do you drive?"

I feel much better saying "I drive a G" than saying "I drive a Q".

Saying I drove a G in 2002 sounded weird too. After the Q comes out all of Infiniti's models will sound old. I'm glad after 2 G's I'll be moving on to a Q or something else.
