Opinions on the FX

I will be getting a new car shortly and am considering the FX35 and 45 as well as many others...4Runner, Explorer, G35 Coupe, Pathfinder, Murano...this list goes on and on. What are your opinions on both of these models? Ive heard some people bashing the 35s gas mileage but it cant be that bad compared to the rest of the SUVs out there. What actually gas mileage are yall getting with these? I really wanted something with 3rd row seating and I cant afford the QX series and Ive always loved the FX. Lets hear them.

Oh yeah...I currently own a G35 sedan...nice car but just not me.

The FX35 RWD fits my lifestyle perfectly... I have no regrets...
Last several fill-ups i've been getting around 17 MPG (mostly city driving)

On my G35 Sedan 6MT that I traded in for it, I was getting around 19 MPG doing the same type of driving so considering the FX35 weights like 700 lbs more thats not to bad on MPG...

I love my FX35 RWD, never regreted. I'm getting 22.8mpg on highway, 17mpg on city. This car has been out for three years now, still rare to find on the street. Once it gets Turbo'ed, I don't think I will ever sell this car.

A coworker just recently bought an used 04 FX35, and she loves it so far. Her only wish is that she had bought a new one Maybe in 3 years.

Handles much better than the Suburban she traded in for it.

The gas mileage on our FX35 is around 17-18 MPG in 60/40-City/Hwy driving. I consider that to be not bad, especially since my G35 gets barely better MPG than that.
I think it's a great driving SUV. If you need a lot of room it's probably not the one to get, but if you want an SUV that almost drives like a G and has decent utility, FX35 is a great choice.

I've got about 7k miles on my FX35 AWD. I'm getting 18 city & 20 -21 on the highway. I drive aggressive when I'm not in traffic, so you could maybe squeeze out 1 mpg more for each if you tried.

I have sport/touring/hands free. Wish I would have gone w/ tech simply for the navi. Note that there is no good way to add aftermarket nav to the 06's. People are moving the non-tech displays down to where the clock was on the 03 - 05's & going w/ an aftermarket unit where the oem was. Nobody's tried that on the 06's yet.

Love the handling. Almost on par w/ my G35x, but considering the weight diff, it's all good.

The FX's styling is timeless. For the first time in a long time I feel content with my ride. (if you don't count wishing I had nav and the 45 )

We've got an FX35 AWD and we're getting identical MPG as shredX. We got it decked out with every option - premium package, tech package, sport package, etc. The only thing I'd like to add is the tow package, so that we could tow the jet ski I hope to buy someday.

You've got to cut that list down somehow. The FX and especially the G35 coupe will never meet your passenger needs if you're seriously in need of third row seating. Every other SUV you mentioned in your post is truck-based, so the handling will never meet that of the FX. I think you just have to decide what's more important to you. For me, the FX represented a perfect balance of sports car handling and SUV utility.

Oh yeah, wanted to mention that we drove both the FX35 and FX45 before we bought, and the 35 was a slam dunk choice. The performance feels identical between the two in every situation EXCEPT a hard launch from the line. The service manager also mentioned that the 4.5 V8 engine had a few minor problems (burns about 1 1/2 quarts of oil between changes) that the virtually bullet-proof VQ35 does not.

The price difference between the two engine options is about $10K for base models. The difference between the two if you completely deck out the 35 becomes about $6K. I just couldn't see that it was worth it, especially when you consider the MPG difference.

My wife drives an '04 AWD FX35 with 15K miles on it. She gets about 17-18 mpg with mixed city/hiway driving. Oh, and she usually uses mid grade ~89 octane gas if that makes a difference.

Our non-sport FX35 handles fairly well. It takes corners almost as well as our '05 5AT G35C with sport pkg without the added road noise. I get about 18-19 mpg in the G35C.

does the non-navi fx have the 7in screen like the new G does?

06 and up have a color screen and reverse camera standard, not touch screen but they no longer used the amber atari looking screen.
