Problems with FX CD player?

Anybody had a problem with the CD player dying in their FX? I was hoping this problem was only plaguing the G's, but my wife's FX stopped playing and ejecting CDs this morning. The car doesn't even have 25K miles yet!!!

Anybody with similar experiences? I'm trying to get a feel for how inevitable the switch to an aftermarket HU will be. If it's like my G coupe, I'd say it's ~100%.

Not that many FX HUs have failed. Maybe 4-5 I can recall of on the FX forum.

I wonder how good a measure that is though considering that only 5 people have viewed this thread in the last 12 hours.

Yeah, didn't mean this FX forum. A dedicated FX forum. Only a few FX HUs have lost any functions. Get it warrantied.

I am on my 3rd radio in my FX. First one was replaced at 1,500 miles then the next at 4,000 miles. I now have 6,000 miles so lets see if this one lasts!

It is driving me nuts!!!

I had 2 G Coupes before my FX and never had a problem with either of their radios. WEIRD!

Mine stopped working since Dec. 06, ordered the parts right away, check with the dealership yesterday but they still didn't receive the parts. Waiting patiently.

we send them out to clarion and install new ones. we get the radios in 2 days so I don't get how you ordered one in december and no part yet

a biggest thing with the cd is if you are using a cheap quality burnt cd it will jam the laser reader

I called the dealership again yesterday, service advisor said he will be getting 50 replacement units today which is the Thursday. I have made appointment for Friday...finally. And yes I requested on Dec. 2006.

That is such BS. I have never had a problem with a CD Player jamming due to a burnt CD. Ever. Until I got the G. And obviously this clarion unit that has been installed with a Bose sticker on the front is a complete pile of ****. I tell people that my CD player is jammed and they laugh at me because they don't believe that a CD player breaks. I have heard of CD Players that have a hard time reading a CD after it has been used for a long time, but never that the Player actually jams. If anything you should still be able to eject the CD's and put in new ones that work. I'm sorry, but blaming this on burnt CD's is just a crock of garbage. Really.

Oh and no it won't jam the laser reader. If the laser reader jams it is a mechanical break not the fault of a burnt CD. If this is what Clarion is telling you, they are just passing the buck for a faulty product that is creating a great deal of complaints. I hope to god that Infiniti choose a different manufacturer for its CD Changers for the new 07/08 models.
