killing AWD?
killing AWD?
i am considering buying FX35 or FX45 but the always AWD really kills me on GAS. is there anyway i can remove AWD option with a FUSE like the G35X's? i am looking at gas consumption.
Acutally I take that back. Regardless of if this system is FWD or RWD based, disabling the awd system probably won't net you jack.
Exactly on what technical basis do you think this would help?

You'll gain next to no fuel economy advantage whatsoever. ATTESA on the G or FX is only engaged when it senses traction loss......so other than slippery driving in snow or rain, it is going to operate in a RWD mode all the time anyways.

Mr. Igor most of the poor fuel economy comes from the VQ itself and the huge weight of an SUV and the AWD system itself. As already said the tiny amount of time the front gears/center diff is engaged would make virtually no difference to your fuel economy.
Maybe you are looking at the wrong vehicle if fuel costs are a major concern. AWD or RWD, the FX35 is going to peg you somewhere in the 18mpg (maaaaybe) in mixed driving. I drive and hour to and from work everyday on straight, flat roads. I use the cruise control all of the time and I'm only mustering 20.4 mpg. 4,300 pounds + VQ engine = less than average gas mileage. Just a thought.
