Thinking about getting a used FX...

Can anyone educate me on the differences between the years and what to watch out for? Thanks everyone for the help.

04 had intelligent key too, mine does.

the interior is different in 06, essentially the same functionality wise.

a bunch of things changed between 03 and 04.

get an FX45!! they are so fast and the sport package is really nice.

also, be sure to get one with the technology package because the back-up camera, navi, and intelligent cruise control are really awesome features.

the 06+ has the backup cam standard...tech pkg is over-rated IMO, not worth paying the extra $$ for it...navi is marginally worth it if you actually use it...but the handsfree pkg is nice....

if you want nav you have to get the tech package. i rarely use the Intelligent Cruise Control and I shut off the Lane Departure Warning crap. The '06 up interiors are obviously more refined than the previous years and you can find good deals on them now. good luck.

Being 6'2" and 215 lbs, I can tell you that the rear seat is quite comfortable for LONNNNG hauls, no matter trips to dinner with friends. Modular baby seats can be a pain in the *** getting in and out, but if you don't have kids, who cares?

My dad got his as I got my G35 and we've often traded (benefits of owning a home 3 houses away) whenever the need arose. Which is often if you have no trunk and a fixer upper house. Now, I'm ready to trade in the G for an FX. The sooner I get it done, the happier I'll be.

I am always skeptical of gadgets in technology packages but I cannot imagine going back to a car with only normal cruise control. You become spoiled by the Intelligent Cruise Control, even with its faults.

The Bluetooth in the first generation FX sucks; it is so archaic that it is not even worth using. Certainly it would not have cost Infiniti much to display call info on the screen but apparently it was too much in their eyes. I would have preferred Infiniti add this little feature rather than additional exterior chrome trim.

The '06+ navigation system is much better; useful features were added such as POIs by distance, it is faster to "think," the map can be split, new controls for faster input, etc.

Having owned a '05 and '06, the '06+ certainly has a nicer interior though the '03-'05 handles better. The '03-'05 is tighter feeling, it had slightly stiffer suspension and it is quite noticeable. It is worthy of consideration depending on what you are looking for. The '06+ handles quite well, it just is not as eager and precise as the '03-'05.

i'm on my second FX... '06 FX35, now '07 FX45 and just waiting to get into a '09 FX50.... the '03-'05's are nice equipped and the '06-'08 have changes from the seat controls, updated interior, more standard features, etc. You'll definitely enjoy the FX no matter what year you find but the '06-up I would highly recommend staying with.
