Ever since I've had a V1, no tickets in 5 years.

Of course the V1 alerts on all those tests... because it ALWAYS alerts, regardless of a real or bogus threat! V1 = worthless.

My RX65 alerts to Xand K Band door openers so I don't know what you're referring to unless it is a different revision. I know when someone's exiting 7-11 with their Slurpee. That's when I strike!

Well that is different than saying they don't alert.

My $0.02 -over the last few years of frequenting car forums and reading radar reviews it seems to be very close between the V1 and X50 with the V1 generally getting the nod. However, that does not mean the performance of X50 is substandard. Performance is quite excellent. They are two fine devices that will do the job better than anything out there. I would rank them:

1. V1 (top tier)
2. X50 (top tier)
3. X65 (2nd tier but no slouch)

Solely based on user input and many many articles I've read.

I have a V1 and love it.

What's this "superior" filtering everyone is talking about?

The Escort's "superior filtering" removes a lot of the "false" alerts that "other" detectors give out. One thing you need to remember when selecting a detector; remember the Boy that cried Wolf. Too many false alerts make one tend to not believe your detector when it goes off. If the first thing you do when your detector goes off is try to find out what's making it alert, you have the wrong detector. Plain and simple.

The Valentine One will alert longer than other radar detectors because it has 2 antennas so the signal is held longer. The Valentine alerts to laser almost 100% of the time to every laser gun while the X50 is quiet and doesn't alert to all laser guns.
The Valentine One is like a security guard with 20/20 vision with eyes in the front and back of his head that alerts to any threat so that you can be protected. The X50 is like a security guard with 20/40 vision with only eyes in the front of his head that doesn't alert to every possible threat because it can't see it so you are not fully protected.
There is a reason that people say the X50 is more quiet than the Valentine One....it's because the X50 can't alert to what it doesn't see.
Once again your lack of understanding of how a GOOD radar "receiver" is supposed to work shows in your response. Door openers and alarms work on s specific set of frequencies as do X, K, and Ka speed radar. If your unit will not filter out the BS, it is useless. I don't care how sensitive your detector is, if it is constantly going off in your ear, you will eventually quit listening to it's alarm. It is a natural thing for you to "get used" to the sound of the alarm all the time. I'm not saying that my X50 filters it ALL out, but it does filter a lot of the unnecessary signals that I don't need to know about. That's what a GOOD detector does. I have had one that barked at every little 10 GHz source that was out there and I got rid of it fast. Even though it would pick up speed radar at over 8 miles on the flats, it would also pick up the local Circle K from several miles also. What good is that?

As for Laser, I don't care what detector you are using, if it goes off, your Fvcked. There is NOTHING out there that will save you from a Laser speed unit, save a laser "jammer". The only way is if you get lucky, and the cop manages to shoot the beam your direction while you are a long way back. If he brings it up on YOUR car, I don't care if you have a V1 or an X50, you are going to pay the man.

Wait for it...... Wait..... Just a little more.....
