Anybody else have any input regarding whether or not they have significantly benefited from synthetic oil in their vehicles? I know it can be a pretty heavy debate at times, however I have read and read and searched and searched, and I'm still interested in opinions...

 

my 2k2 6spd maxima had mobil 1 full synthetic since hitting 1k on the odometer.... been through 18 plus oem filters on mobil 1.... the maxima currently has 70k miles on it and not a nary of oil drop or leak anywhere a, and i've been doing all the oil changes myself after taking it to the dealer the first few times.... since acquiring my g, i've exended the oil change interval on my maxima to 5k miles instead of the 3.5k miles i was doing earlier...

For my break-in oil change, i put mobil 1 full synthetic (5w-30), but recently I took my g35 in for the 3750 mile change and despite telling the service writer that i brought my own oil and filter (napa gold filter) they still put dino and oem nissan filter... i'll be draining the dino oil and putting in mobil 1....

 

Thats crap that they didnt even use your oil and filter! Not only would I change it yourself from now on, I would tell everybody I know NOT to go to that shop/service dept.

I think what I plan on doing is running synthetic, and after the 1st oil change at 3k, sending in a sample to blackstone. I will then work my way to 5k pending good results. I probably wont go much higher than 5k or 6k between changes though - I'd hate to push my luck!
