heat by pedals!

Today i was driving my car to starbucks, and on the way back(total 5 mile trip), my foot began to get hot. I looked at the ac and it was set at 76 so i turned it off thinkin that was makin my foot hot. That didnt help . So i drove home with my foot burning, and when i got home i felt the drivers side floor, and it was very warm(on the mat, and on the side). I pulled the mat up and felt the metal area behind the pedals and it was sooooo hot i burnt my finger !!! I have no idea what could be making it soo damn hot, could it be my transmission, or mabe heat frome the engine, please help me
-Tom

I also just had the axle re-greased by the dealer, idk if this could have anything to do with it

Front-Midship design does tuck to the motor pretty close the firewall. The heat in the footwells is pretty common. I recall someone posting a long time ago about how to fix the hot air, from underhood, from entering the footwell, but I don't remember the process.

IF I ever decide to pull the carpet and expose the front floors and firewall, I'll add Dynamat Extreme wherever possible to decrease the radiant heat through those metal panels.
