Timing chain (cam chain)

Looked in my manual, and the maintance section of the service manual.

There is no prescribed time frame for replacing the timing chain.

Is this a wear part on our engines? (In my case an 03.0)

Any need to replace it? I reviewed the procedure, and it seems VERY time consuming...

No need to change unless it breaks or something, but if that so happens you might want to kiss the motor good bye, possilbly bend a valve or something.

Since we have a timing chain, as opposed to a timing belt, there is no need to replace it (or so they say - by they i mean the dealer..)
