chipped rims

i just bought a 2004 G this past weekend and after i got it home i realized the chorme on the rims was chipping off. A buddy of mine said people used to come into his dealership and bitch about this sort of thing and get new rims, but i have doubts about that. The car still has warranty and i was wondering if i could get them to replace the rims under the warranty, any insight would be much appreciated. Thnx

Eric

haha congrats on the new g.

anyway, its possible but unlikely. the dealers will do everything in their power (usually) to prevent themselves from having to give you something. they will probably say its a 'wear and tear' type of thing and the chips are because of rocks - not b/c of the quality.

good luck with everything

and plans for modding yet?

Help prevent a divorce

My wife did a curb job (both right rear and front) on my Volk GT6's. Can they be repaired? Who provides this kind of service. Thanks

n/p

but its worth a try. theyll probably blame it on the previous owner too. did you buy it off the lot or from a private owner?

anyway, good luck with it and let the modding begin! (beware - its highly addictive)

I managed to get one of my rims replaced for free at about 15K miles or so. The paint was flaking off by itself, not due to any impact on the rim. It was a long drawn out process, but basically I took progressive pictures of all of my rims about every two weeks for a couple of months. The pictures showed that the flaking kept getting worse on only one rim, while none of the other rims had problems at all. I then had a rim doctor "repair" it for ~$50, then took more pictures when the paint started falling off about a month later. The dealership offered to pay the next $50, and the same thing happened. They tried to warranty it but they have to get approval from Infiniti's warranty department first, and they stonewalled me. I went through Consumer Affairs, and they denied me also. Finally the service manager (who I had become good friends with by this point - no saracasm intended, he's a great guy) mentioned the problem to some executive who came through the dealership to do a tour of the facility, and she authorized the replacement on the spot.

It is possible, but it's a long uphill battle. It took me about 8 months from the time it started.

^^haha dont give up hope man. i say give it a shot. but like my dealer says - dont be an @$$ about it and they will try to take care of you. in other words, be mature about it and dont go around pointing your fingers at people. but dont let them walk over you either. lol does any of that make sense? haha i guess just try to find a balance is what im trying to say? haha idk anymore

or just buy new wheels
