I think if you can find a base model G at a dealership, they will try and unload it pretty cheap. We just bought ours two days ago... $1500 under invoice...

I wasn't aware that you could get a G without the sunroof. Had I known, I probably would have tried to find one without it. While I don't regret purchasing my car (the premium features are great), a little extra headroom couldn't hurt.

It doesn't look like the coupe is available in Canada without a sunroof. That's one of the reason why I'll never be able to own one, they're just too snug for me. Maybe the 07's and 08's will have more headroom... yeah right.

I got the premium package to get rear active steering, but I do enjoy some of the features of it. The package in itself isn't really worth $3000 or so, but I was really determined to get RAS.

Specific thoughts below:

Power glass sliding sunroof - personal thing, I like having a sunroof.

Bose premium audio system... - didn't see anything different about this thant he base sound system. I'm not picky with stereo things. The base model sounded the same to me.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System - I dont have a bluetooth phone, but i'll definately use/try it when i do get one.

2-position memory system for driver's seat and steering wheel - definately worthwhile if its a premium only thing. I move my seat all the time when taking breaks in the car and it automatically moves back to my usual setting. (although if the base model has 1-position memory, which i don tknow if it does or not, thats all i really need)

Power tilt and telescoping steering wheel - same as above, nice to fine tune my seating.

Dual-zone Automatic Temperature Control - really not useful at all. I thought this was a big perk from the brochure, but it isnt very useful because the temperature difference isn't that great between the driver/passenger side. I *thought* it was front/rear seat dual climate initially, but foudn out it was passenger/driver.

Auto-on/off headlights - not useful, I am used to flipping it on/off all the time and still do it, despite having auto headlights.

Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror - nice feature, i like it. If you are getting a tint this is pretty useless because the tint does the reduction, but w/o a tint the difference is noticeable comparing the side and rear view mirrors

HomeLink Universal Transceiver - definately useful if you have a garage.

Open the sun roof and you have all the head room you could use.

When I bought mine, I looked high-and-low to find one without anything. So, the best I could do is get one with Sunroof, trunk mat, and splash guards. Funny thing, I actually like all those features now. I remember having a sunroof on my 87 maxima and used it only when I went on vacations. So, I didn't think I needed it for the coupe. Well, I actually like having it and find myself using it at least 1 time a week. So, it was worth it now

Now, I did some reading and in regards to getting more for your car when it comes time to selling it, I read that getting the premiums is a dealer way of making extra bucks off of you. They claim that you will get more for your car when you sell it, but if you think about it, you already shelled out $3K for the premium plus interest (i.e. the difference between $38K and $35K at the interest rate at which you got the car for). It isn't just on the $3K.

Anyways, for most folks, it isn't really about the money but convenience. I live in southern Cali (sorta near the beach) and don't need all those bells and whistles. Never regretted it one bit

If Infiniti had offered a G model that was a bit lighter, had more agressive cosmetics, and some added power, etc. (more or less a version of the NISMO S1), I would have bought that.

Since they don't, I opted for the best starting point to achieve my own version of such a non-existent model.

NOO premium package. SO not worth it man. I just got a sunroof. DOnt need DUAL climate control..as i'm the only one driving most of the time. No memory seats needed...as im the one driving most of the time. No power steering wheel because...im the one driving most of the time so its always where it needs to be. No bluetooth because my cell phone isnt cool and doesnt have bluetooth. Bose ive heard is BLOSE and also consider the stock sound system really isnt HORRIBLE, infact people often say the extra two speakers on the back lid distort the sound in the car. Maybe a sub is needed, but honestly I had two 12s in my old car and Im glad i dont have them in the G. My ears are recouping.

all in all..its not worth the extra $3000+ in my opinion

That or get a convertable 350Z. I'd need to wear a helmet though for all the bug strikes.

Actually, I think the 350Z is one of the few convertables I would have a hope of fitting in.

My car is an 05 sedan with sport package and sunroof. Since I have an 05, I'm not too familiar with any of the little things that the 06 has over the 05's.

- tilt/telescoping steering wheel... I have that, the only difference is its not electronic...
- Bose system... if you care about audio, you will change out everything anyway regardless... the differences are too minor.
- Rear active steering - I heard from a guy that works at a nissan dealer that it isnt worth it and it could be prone to problems down the road... that all I know about it.
- dual climate control... who cares? I think its counter productive...
- sunroof - I love having a sunroof, but you can get this seperately
- auto-headlights - just leave your lights on all the time and you wont have to worry about them anymore (thats if you are lazy enough to make this an important option)
- Dimming mirror/homelink - I dont care care much for the dimming mirror, but having homelink would be nice - i get by though, i put the garage remote in the upper cubby since I dont have navi

Power glass sliding sunroof
Bose premium audio system with 8 speakers, AM/FM/cassette, and
in-dash, single-slot 6-disc CD autochanger
Dual-zone Automatic Temperature Control
Auto-on/off headlights
Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror
HomeLink Universal Transceiver

All that came with the 03 Premium Package and I've got Nav too(which I never use).
