I would stick with the nissan transmission fluid. It is already synthetic and it is metalic so its good stuff. I think it takes 5-6 quarts, i took mine to the infiniti dealership and it was only $99 to have it replaced. I went to nissan to buy the fluid and they wanted 200 just for the fluid.... so i went to infiniti and they changed it for $99.

Unless you have the proper tools to suck the transmission fluid out dont do it yourself. If you just let it drain you will still have about 2 quarts left in the transmission. At the dealership they actually hook it up to a suction pump and they get everything out so when they replace it its all brand new fluid.

You dont say whether its 6MT or 5AT, but if it's 5AT, DO NOT use anything other than the Nissan Matic-J fluid. And FYI, you should be doing the fluid exchange every 30K miles on the autos.

If its 6MT, there are several excellent synthetic gear lubes out there. Do a search for other owners experiences. I would change it every 30K too along with the rear differential fluid.

Surprised Nissan dealership would charge more than Infiniti. I know oil changes are almost half the price at our Nissan dealer.

Stay with Infiniti's a/t fluid....it's very good and synthetic...
Apparantly they are very fussy about what is used in our transmissions to maintain warranty.....
