Poll: G owners with snowy winters, what do you do?
I took delivery in late Oct. 03. First bad snow was in early Dec. I made the mistake of not listening to my dealer about Michelin's and snow. Hit a curb and messed up my front rim.
If it snowed, I didn't use the car that season. I purchased aftermarket rims and Dunlop winter sport M3 snows in the summer.
Never had a problem with winter weather since. The car is completely predictable, and if you drive with common sense in the snow, you will get around with the best of them....
I think its a sound investment if you do not want to buy/insure another car for the winter months.....

If and when I do buy the G coupe it will never see a flake of snow thats what my 02 sentra is for. I would never even attempt to drive 19s with summer tires in the snow, if I can afford to buy a 40k car I can afford to buy a winter beater
All-season performance rubber will do you fine in the snow with a RWD G. I've had no problems getting through two Midwest winters and that was on the POS Bridgestone Turanzas. My G has made it through 1" to 6" snow without any real problems. I imagine my G will be even more snow worthy with my recently installed Avon MS550s. Last year I even drove my G though 8+ snow after getting back from the airport in a blizzard. I drove 40 miles through that stuff. The only place I got stuck was going up my driveway which was covered in about 10-12" snow.
Now if you have summer tires, don't even consider driving in the snow. You'll either go no where or slide into something. Also, using summer tires in the sub 50 degree weather severely degrades the tire compound making perform worse, even when the weather warms back up.

I bought 17" rims and Dunlop M3s last year, because I bought my car in March of '05 and we had 2 snows after that. The stock tires were worthless in the snow.
I was actually pretty worried that snows weren't going to do the trick. I had decided that if the G couldn't go in snow, that I might get rid of it. Luckily, I didn't have to think about it much, because the snows worked great!!! We didn't get a lot of snow last year, but they were good in the 4 inches that we got a few times. I am curious to see how they will perform in the deeper stuff 6" or 8" will probably be my limit.

From what I hear if you put a good set of dedicated snows all round on your car you should be fine. Blizzaks, Nokians, or Dunlop M3 snow tires work real well.

I bought a set of 18" Blizzaks on the OEM 18" rims for this winter. I take my 19" rims off and shelve them for the winter. Put the 18"s on and give it a go. Turning and stopping will still be difficult even with Blizzaks, cause the car is still RWD. I've never had a RWD in the snow.
