pros and cons about the g35
I just bought a G35 sedan and I'm very happy with it. There are too many pros to list. There are cons that need careful consideration though.
1. Do you feel comfortable with RWD? It was a big sticking point for me since I live in a snowy climate. But I decided that I only have to deal with it 5 to 10 days per year and the other 355 days I will enjoy superior handling and cornering.
2. It is a little pricier than comparable cars. Since you're looking at a coupe you're probably shopping it against BMW's in which case the G35 is cheaper. But in my case, with the sedan, the Lexus ES350, IS350, and Acura TL gave it some stiff competition. Though the G was cheaper than a lexus, it was $2-3 grand more than a TL.
3. When researching the car I found that anyone with a Pre-2005 G experienced ABYSMAL break pad life. Nissan offered a 36,000 mile warranty on them, so if you're car has more miles than that I would think twice about it. Do you really want to pay for a brake job EVERY year?
4. The Interior styling, to me, is pretty bad. The orange lights, and the shape of the dash all felt very "80's" to me. Most cars today have indigo lights on the gauges and more modern looking controls and stereos. Exterior styling though, on the G, can NOT be beat by any sedan on the market, period.

PROS: Drop dead sexy looks (especially with a mild drop and deep dish wheels)
Brakes... stop on a dime
Comfortable ride, nice handling
CONS: TSB TSB TSB.... i'm going in this weekend to have my driver side window motor replaced. Quit after 30k miles. Bose head unit was replaced at 20k. Need the gas flapper TSB done.
Pig Slow power to weight ratio
Poor gas mileage
Sh*tty paint

Pros:
Exterior Styling (Since 03, I continue to get stares...except when I'm in socal visiting my gf/parents where the g35 is as common as the Toyota Corolla)
Torque O' Plenty! (Some of the 4 bangers may beat me in a straight line nowadays, but I'll take them on a steep hill incline)
Exhaust note (especially when starting her up)
Value (when compared to the IS, 3 series, and C class)
Cons:
It's heavy.
Rattles/Squeaks/Burbs/Farts like no tomorrow.
I can stare at the paint the wrong way and a scratch/chip will develop (Black may look good but I will never buy black again cuz its so dang hard to maintain)
In my opinion, fit and finish isn't as good as its competitors.
Brakes squeak, wear fast, and produce lots of brake dust.
I get 19mpg......on a good day...
Had to bring in the car for the following reasons: window motor, brakes, sunroof, gas tank, brakes, fuel line, cd player, headlight, brakes...
Despite all the cons, I love the G. My previous car was a G20. Loved that too. I think I'll be buying another Infiniti in the future (though I would wait a year or two on a resdesign)
