That big lump is the OEM setup. If you go look at the other G35 in the lot with Sirius they all have that black antenna. I think only the M series had the antenna that was painted to match the car.

 

2006 comes with a shark fin....

 

When I bought my 06 in March I was told that the Gs did not come with satelite radio pre installed from the factory. It was a dealer installed item and the black antennas is what they installed. The shark fins started to show when the factory started installing satelite radio prior to delivery. I tried to get the antenna from my dealer last time I was in for service, but they told me they couldn't get them yet because there was a back order or not enough of them or something. I am going to check again next week when I have to go back for service again.

 

I got it, from my dealer, who tried to charge me 300 just for the parts.... I called Grubbs and they told me less than 100 for all the parts... My deal is a POS... Turns out though, they are installing it, and providing the parts for free.

It was all worth it just to hear the sales manager dig a deeper hole every time he opened his mouth. Not lonly did he open up more cans of worms in conversation about the antenna, he just made it worse everytime he talked.

I can't wait to fill out the satisfaction guarntee form.....

 

I figure the lump will always be there, however never ever do anything through the dealer, everyone knows you can do it cheaper. But then agian i guess it depends on your own personal skill level and the time you have to invest

 

I didn't know I could get all the parts for less than 300.00 when I agreed to have them install it. I did think it would come with the painted fin.... I was floored when I came to get the car and saw the black rat antenna......

Funny thing, I have really paid attention to a lot of cars out there since this has happened, and... a lot of them have an ugly black sat. antenna.
