Dog transport...............
Boxers are very cool dogs....smart....trainable and
won't shed all over your G. We have a retriever mix
that's crazy but in the car all she wants to do is drool
on my windows. Just throw a blanket over the shotgun seat and you'll do fine!

I have an 80 lb yellow lab, she loves to go but I've never taken her in the G. I take the jeep whenever I take her with me. I also have an 8 month choc. lab who now weighs 60 lbs. I swore he would never ride in the G either...well that plan got shot to hell recently. He had to have elbow surgery and I have had to take him to work with me and to the vet in Ventura which is 2 hrs. away. All in the G since my husband took the F350 and towed the Jeep to Montana Elk hunting! Both my dogs have ridden in cars since 7-8 weeks so they behave very well.
I took a sheet and tucked the corners into the hooks on both sides of the speakers on the back deck and draped it over the back of the seat, then put a couple old pillows on the bottom of the back seat, then layed another blanket over the pillows and put a sheepskin dog pad on top of that. I know it's alot but the only thing he can get to is the windows and of course those have nose prints now. Get the dog you want, he will be a wonderful friend and just take the time to train him and cover the seats. Good luck!

Thanks fellas...
I've got 2 Cocker Spaniels and they go with me on occasion in either car. (the M or the Civic).
If you cover the seats with a blanky or towel, they won't scratch anything.
The worst is a little hair....
My 'kids' are pretty spoiled, tho. I care more about their happiness than the cars......

I have a Golden Retriever mix and she loves to go anywhere in the car. I take her in both my G and my QX4 and don't even use a blanket. Any dirt she gets on the leather wipes off and I have to vaccum regularly due to hair. Other than that, I have never had any issues.
Well I just stumbled upon this thread and decided to share. I have a 150+ pound Newfoundland.

The hair! oh, the hair! It's everywhere! Well, he rides very well in my FX with no issue. The drool can get a little bit of everywhere but I put up with it. I have to say I'll be hard pressed to get any other breed of dog. Once you get a Newfoundland, you never look back.

Good choice on the Boxer!
I have a 16 week old Boxer who has traveled hundreds of miles with me in my G already. Keep in mind boxer's think they are lap dogs regardless of the fact they can weigh 75+ lbs. Mine layed in my lap until he got so big that his but rubbed against the steering wheel. Now I force him to lay in the back seat over a towel and he does fine once he calms down. I do find myself however keeping an eye out for an old wrangler or explorer for future use when I travel with him. He's only 22 lbs right now, but when he's 75 lbs, I'm not going to want him in the G. Oh, and boxers do shed, trust me.

Sweet lookin Boxer! And Im glad you both enjoy them so much...My girlfriend has a female and she's about a year old...Damn thing is a handful but they bring positive light onto each day...I know I know, sometimes you just want to be left alone but Boxers REFUSE to go unnoticed...And I know about the lap dog living inside of them...Her previous boxer passed away but would always try to lay on my lap even at 70 lbs!! Ill try to post a pic of hers sometime soon...
And a special thanks to everyone who posted...I was very worried that I couldn't pull this off...Thanks for the info and support...
