Who here has a dog?
Who here has a dog?
Reason I ask is cause I've never really been into dogs...But lately Im grown obsessed with Boxers...A close friend of mine has one and I love the damn thing...Anyways Id love to get one BUT...Theres the G!! All I have is a G coupe to get me from point A to B (no beater car)...I cant imagine ever putting a bigger dog in my car...So, does anyone do this? Been in the same boat? How has it worked out? Thanks fellas...
i had a dog. everytime the fella ran away i would drive around in my neighborhood looking for the dang thing. haha, finally i would find it and bring it back in my car... all was good until i saw a hole in my passenger seat. from his nails most likely... so... iono... that was my experience...
I had a Golden Retriever for 9 years, but had to put her down a couple of years ago.
You can get a hammock sort of thing that lays on the back seat and attaches to the headrests in front and rear. It not only keeps the dog's nails and hair off the seat, but it keeps the dog from falling into the rear footwell if you brake hard. Check the local pet stores or the internet. G/L.

Just keep a thick towel or blanket in the trunk, double it over and throw is over the seat. Train the dog to not go nuts when its in the car and you should be fine. We used to take a retired racing greyhound with us everywhere and never had a problem.

She sheds a bit so that is the only consequence, I have to vacuum a bit more.

That is a neat set up. My wife made something like it that had elestics and went over the headrests. However it didn't drape underneath to the back like the one you showed.

Our dog rides in my car and much to Trey's dismay I think has been in his car once. I have a big blanket thing that was designed for the cargo area of an SUV and I can drap it over the whole seat/floor area on one side. It's waterproof, etc in case of accidents. I also have a "doggie seatbelt" thing that keeps the dog in the seat and should help if we ever have an accident. Our dog is about 60 lbs maybe a little more so he isn't a little dog.
Good luck with the new dog. If you teach them well and plan ahead you should be fine.

As long as you bring a towel or old shirt or something for them to sit on, you shouldn't have a problem. If you get a small enough dog you can train them to sit on the floor, but most likely they will want to look outside the windows.
Why would driving a dog around keep you from getting one anyway? Is it going to carpool with you to work everyday or something? It's not like you'll be taking it and its friends to karate after school three times a week. I think our dogs (a mini poodle and a micro daucshund) ride in our cars maybe once a month, if that. They mostly just sit there, but the daucshund like to climb around the car and sniff around for the first few minutes.

Sorry about your Lab, too.
We always had a *cough*minivan*cough* in the family while we had the dog, so it was easy - she just claimed the spot between the front seats.
I noticed those hammocks in the C&D and R&T magazine ads. I didn't end up needing one 'cause I had to put her down just before I bought the G35.
