Unhappy

IMO it is. Romeo already said that the current option is too costly even with the number of members interested. Even though he is exploring other options, I don't think it's going to work out for a price lower than what you can buy online.

I did some research myself on molds and they are pretty pricy (up to 500 clams just for mold of the master). Then you have the complex issue of what grade of material to use and the time involved (some molds are cheaper, but can only make a max of three or less copies per day and eventually the mold degrades).

I've tossed in the towel on this one. I ordered one from Riversideinfiniti.com. It usually goes for $49.95 but they're currently selling it for $34.70 (item # JDMRHDBATTERYCOVER).

I dunno about the rest of you guys. It's a damn good idea that Romeo has, but I don't think it's something one person can do alone and certainly if nobody here has some type of hook-up in the mold-injection industry. It's just too costly for a small run.

I already have the JDM one and can hold out if this ever materializes.

Curious though...what happened to the master mold from the one made in the picture on the very first post from Romeo?

Plus to reduce costs, what about just doing the door and ppl can buy the JDM one and change the door with one that says 'brake fluid'.

Just a thought.

That may not be a bad thing IF: They are plug n play, and say brake fluid instead of battery. For the same price as after-market, that's still better.

Here's a pic I found in another forum. Not the best in the world, but you get the idea...

If I get back to the dealership, I'll take my camera this time.

Update, so with the last update we concluded that mold costs are high and a higher quantity would need to be established in order to get this to work. At the moment there seems to be a few options so your input would greatly help this matter and get this to continue to its next stage.

First Option:
At the moment we can do just the removable door that says "BRAKE FLUID" for a run of $25, but this would require at least 350 pieces to be ordered to make this work.

Second Option:
We can go all out and make the full kit inlcuding the surounding piece as well. Like the first option there would need to be at least a 350 piece minimum order. This piece will be a bit more like $30 for the piece. But it will be premodified to fit with to alterations needed.

Third Option:
We can just make a replacement label that will snap into your existing battery cover to change it from saying battery to "Brake Fluid" however the positive and negative cirles will still exist. The pricing on this item is still in the works to be determined. But for sure it will be a lot less than the other options.

Please feel free to post your feedback and what you'd like to see!

I'd say the odds of getting a run of 350 is low, but if you can get it, I'm up for options 2

option one was already suggested (and requested) by several of us... however I have painted JDM and not sure how interested I would be at this point (possibly I guess).

The interesting factor at this time is that the 07 sedan has a cover on driver side... but I'm not sure if it fits previous years. If it does (even with slight modifications) most would probably just get the ’07 OEM piece.

Option 2.. how many do you need for $40-45?

.. which is probably reaching the max most would pay for a complete plug n play cover.

350 is a high number. idk man...to get 350 actual committed and paid ppl here would be next to a miracle.
No offense ppl, but you know how it usually goes here and has in the past.

Romeo...I'll hang tough...I'm in no rush. Appreciate your hard work in this and trying to find an affordable alternative.

Gotta ask again though...where's the mold that made this one.......and can't they use that one?

Reading all 10 pages of this thread was like reading a suspenseful book, and then I get to the end and nothing happened...

What ever happened to this idea??? Is ROMEO still out there??
