Can I keep both?
Can I keep both?
Ugh... thought it would be easy to get rid of the Z after I got the G. I wish I could keep both. I will for a little while longer but I could put the money wasted into better places!

depends on your financials...but being a finance person, i would recommend selling the Z while it commands a greater market price and investing the money elsewhere...perhaps a new Skyline when it comes out..?
Hmmm.. Knowing nothing about you I offer these thoughts about owning two vehicles. I am sure there are many folks who will tell you to sell one and invest in Triple-tax-free munis.
Your G is a stick. I don’t know the Z trim levels 100%, I’ll assume the Track forces a Manual Transmission. (Is the 87 300 Z also a Manual)?).
The G is essentially a 4 door Z (even better in my opinion) So the G & Z are redundant.
I see you live in SC, so snow & ice may not be a consideration. It also looks like you live in a Townhouse/Condo/ Apartment complex.
So, what do you need? (want). You own about $70G in Nissan hardware, so I guess we’re not focusing on strictly financials.
I have an ’04 6MT, and my 98 Altima (my first new car). The Alty’s been great, and it’s my snow, bad weather car. I can’t really call it a “beater” cause it’s still in damn nice shape (5MT).
I live in an Apartment complex, so I don’t need a “home depot” vehicle. If I bought a house tomorrow I’d sell the Alty, and get a used Pathfinder or Xterra. That would then become the bad weather / Home Depot Vehicle.
Today, the Alty gets 29 MPG on regular, the G gets 21 on Premium, so I drive them about 60% G, 40% Altima. It works for me, for now.

mrdwaters,
There is an interesting variable to that equation but I have some thoughts about it to.
I do currently live in an apartment, but for about 2 more weeks. I just bought a house close by and have been getting it fixed up over the last few months and will be ready to move in two weeks. It has a one-car garage. I'd like to add a car port off of it.
The 87 is the car I bought 10 years ago and it is still with me. It currently does not get much time on the road, especially since I started buying newer stuff. It still has a place with me and I am getting it fixed back up again. It is a turbo and runs 13.7 @ 100 in the 1/4 with a few minor upgrades. So it stays.
The 03 is a stick, and I really haven't had an automatic in a long time. I even had an Isuzu Rodeo in a stick. Your point about the SUV, gave me a concern, but I do have a roommate that is coming with me with a pickup, so I can sort of borrow it whenever I need to go to Lowe's or Home Depot.
I *know* the 350Z needs to go. It will do nothing but depreciate more and leave peak sale value windows. With the 08 coming out next year (august?), I need to sell this car before the 08 gets out to the general public. Once the new model is released, the previous one does not seem so "new". Throw on some LED taillights and a slightly different front bumper, and the 03 looks like an 07 (plus cool new wheels). This will not hold true in 2008.
So the best idea is to dump the Z within the next few months. Do people buy cars around Christmas time?
A little long, but I was just typing as I was thinking.

Well... interestingly enough, my 58 year old mother is interested in buying the Z vs me selling it to some stranger. So if I keep it in the family I can still drive it once and a while. I actually think it would be hilarious.
Her first car was a red 68 mustang 289 fastback. Her brother drove a corvette. She is no stranger to performance. It has just been a while. The Z has a pop charger and the Borla true dual exhaust. It sounds pretty aggressive. My mom would be driving it! HAHA!
I have all the original parts, so I am thinking of putting the Z back to stock and swapping to the G. Maybe I should just do side pipes since the Z muffler won't exactly fit the G?!! j/k
One thing I didn't mention:
Z = 43,500 miles
G = 4,500 miles
Here's another azz shot for you!

You're a finance person and you're suggesting he invests in a new skyline?
Just messing with you...
But seriously...keep one or the other...no need for the 2 cars...save/invest the money for the future (i'd say a house over a skyline). Unless you're made of money...in that case...keep both.
they are both great. the way i see it is you don't need two z's and since the 300 is more precious to you than the 350 i would sell the 350. also the 350Z tires have to be changed every 10-15K miles. whereaas the G stay for about twice that if not more (don't bash me i am not 100% sure this is what the dealer said). plus the G is fast and can hold 5 people vs. 2. it will just come down to your priorities.
The Z will be for sale pretty soon, if my mom does not want it.
