Why dealer charges so much for installing Sirius
Based on their website, the Sirius satelite option is around 400, but why would the dealer be charging 700 for installing the unit?
I could get an after market for quite a bit less but would prefer a factory one. Has anyone had this installed?

I made the mistake of having the dealer install it (it was before I found this site). It is not a hard install and you would be better off buying the kit from one of the sponsors here and doing it yourself. You will save about 400 bucks. I had the dealer install XM and later I decided to switch to Sirius. I did the same install the dealer did and it took me about an hour (most of which was getting the carpet and trim in the trunk out of the way). It is all plug and play if you have a later model (mine is an 06). I believe Grubbs even has the instructions on their site that the dealer uses (install method at least). Hope that helps.

I got it done for $100 at a local stereo shop.
The OEM sirius unit is nice and conealed, but I lose the signal all the time. If you get the external unit from - say circuit city - you get better reception and better features at a much lesser price. It depends on what you want.

this is a 30 min. install max if you have any mechanical ability. did mine in 20 by mounting antenna on the speaker deck and going through the back seat. i have no issue with reception unless i am in a parking garage. price is $199.00 through chad@infinitspecialist. or grubbs infiniti. (both are sponsors here)
I just got an '07 G and I wanted it from the factory but all the units on lot had the XM system. The car had the tire and wheel package which I did not want so I thought we could just trade out. They let me keep the tires and wheels and installed the unit for me last week. We worked it into the deal when I purchased the car. The only issues I have had is the signal does go in and out where my old XM system did not. The other issue, which was a big one for me was I was told by the salesman that it would look OEM with the sharkfin antenna painted to match when they were done. They installed with a mag antenna and told me that is the way it comes aftermarket. After a 1 hour meeting with the salesmanager, service manager, salesman, and service coordinator they have ordered the OEM sharkfin antenna and they are going to install when it arrives. It is much cleaner. I hope the service gets better from Sirius.
