Want replacement front seats for my sedan

I want to ditch the front seats for my sedan. I'm not picky; I don't have to replace both, just the driver's seat. I know the coupe seats are popular, and I would love them, but it's hard to find a coupe driver's seat in wheat(wish I could have gotten graphite with IP in 05).

I consulted a local automotive upholstery shop, and the guy said it would be minimum of $1500 to refashion my current seat to match a coupe seat, and that is only if he had a coupe seat there for reference.

I tried calling a couple of local salvage yards, and none of them have anything as new as an 05. Hell, they don't have any g35's at all.

I then called my State Farm rep to find out if he could track down any cases involving coupes sent to salvage. He stated he would not be privileged for such queries, but I could call the claims department(and ask for the salvage department) to inquire myself. I did so, and was told that the salvage department can only query based on VIN, claim number, or customer name.

So I'm now out of options. Can anybody please help me find an 05+ Wheat driver's seat, with airbags intact?

Go to http://www.car-parts.com

Enter what part and year you are looking for and they will show you the price and location of the salvage yard that has what you are looking for. You can also consolidate your search to specific regions of the US.

Looking at the price quotes...I saw items as low as 200 and as high as 1000.

Good luck.

Hi,

Got your PM. I'll try to answer all your questions here.

I got a set of black coupe seats from TwinSnail's car when he put in his Recaro's.

1) They will bolt right in but do sit lower than the sedan seats. This is not a problem with the driver's seat because you can adjust the height. This is not the case with the passenger’s seat. I was able to space it up a little but still would like to get longer bolts and space it up more. My GF is only 5'2" so ever little bit helps.

2) There is no need to change the rails (see #1). I don't know if the rails will be the same or not but the mounting points are so get the existing rails if you can.

3) I had to rewire the harness because the plugs and wire colors are different. I know of at least one other guy who got coupe seats and the plugs were the same on his so you might get lucky. As for what went to what, I'm sorry but I don't remember and didn't document it. It was not that hard and I was able to piece together a pin-out for it. You will have some extra wires when you are done but everything works. My sedan seats had the control module in them and the coupe's were somewhere else (or vise/versa).

4) The airbags work fine, the only way I know that for sure is trust in the system check the car does each time you turn it on. The plugs are the same. I had an airbag light when I first put them in but that was because I started the car with the driver's seat out to move it while I was doing the install. Once I reset the system I have not had a problem since.

5) All the motors also work fine.

Now for my $0.02. You said you were only going to get the driver's side. That is a bad idea IMO. The coupe seats look different, especially at the top, the sedan ones are flat and the coupe ones are an "H" shape. It will stand out pretty bad. Maybe you are ok with it, it's your car. It would drive me insane.

$650 shipped for just the driver's seat is too much IMO. I paid $500 for both which was a steal but I have seen them on here before for close to that plus shipping which should not be more than $100-150 freight. So If you could get both for $600-750 that would be a good price.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope this helps.

-Tim
