Drivetrain Difference Coupe Vs. Sedan?

is there anything special or different in the drivetrain from the coupe to sedan ??? i drove a 06 g35 at5 sedan the other night and the ride and acceleration seemed quite different from my 05 at5 coupe .. possibly weight difference ??? gear ratios ???

ratios are all the same for both AT cars.....the sedan is actually a bit lighter than the coupe.....

I think the only difference is the edan uses an aluminum driveshaft and the coupe uses a composite driveshaft (I think.)

I'd think the sedan is less noise than the coupe but i like the coupe for these sharp turns and quicker accleration. On the other hands, you can rotate your tires in the sedan but not on the coupe, at least not on mine

Sedan is about 30-50lbs lighter but comes with smaller tires standard (yes its a part of the weight difference). Also, the coupe in stock form handles way better. You can fix that on the sedan though through 3rd party.

You can rotate your tires side to side and then have the tires taken off the rim and remounted the other way. There you go, rotation on the coupe done! It will cost you extra, but don't say you can't. A little knowledge goes a long way. Thank me later.

Is there any reason why one couldn't just buy the same size tires all around?

is this also true of the g35x sedan. I would think the awd system would make it at least a couple hundred pounds heavier.

Not sure if the coupe handles WAY better. The sedan sport has the same shocks and features the same spring ratings (but the sedan's springs are .5" taller). The coupe does have slightly wider tires though.

That would not conform to the Coupe's Original Equipment specifications.

In the 03-04 model year, it handled way better because the sport shocks were not offered that year. The coupe shocks were different that year than the sedan shocks. The tires on the coupe were also much better (Michelin PS) for the 18 inch and it pretty much eliminated the snap oversteer seen on some of the sedan tests that reviewers complained about (also helped due to bigger rears). The sedan also has a higher center of gravity...but as I said before, the sedan can be made to handle like a coupe.

Later models, the coupe still handled better (again better tires) but the discrepancy became smaller. Remember, the G35 coupe still ran the slalom at around 2-3mph faster (68 vs. 65mph) when it was originally tested due to these differences...slalom isn't everything but that is a pretty BIG difference overall.

Maby There Is Something Wrong With My Coupe..the Sedan Just Flat Out Impressed Me Over The Coupe In Accelleration.. When U Nail The Gas In The Coupe It Seems Like The Converter Slips.. If U Accelerate Nice And Even The Car Takes Off And U Can Feel The Torque.....
