Lesson: Don't expect 20 gallon gas tanks to give you 20 gallons. Use common sense.

how are some of you getting 300 miles before you have to re-fuel? I get to 200 and I have to fill up again. I commute 50 miles total to work and I can go 3 to 4 days then have to fill up again. whats up with that?

Talking Can't Rely On Navi

I ran my Navi "miles to empty" count down to "1" as I stragled up to the pump. The last 4 miles clicked down in what could have been no more than 6 blocks. I lost 4 pounds of sweat in those same blocks but made it to my favorite Shell. A little disappointed when only took 18.5 gals. Now thinking the Navi set-up does not add additional sensors down in the tank - its more like you're using the Navi as a $2,000 calculator that probably uses the same sensor that the idiot early empty light does. By the way to all those who never take a chance & fill tank 1/4 early - it felt real good to risk & conquer kinda like going over 100mph on those rare occasions!!

Assuming you don't have the filler tube issue then you can drive quite a few more miles before you have to fill up. Another 100 miles would put you in the 18 gallons empty range, which can happen. I tend to put in about 15 gallons right around 300 miles with my mileage.

Guys, I filled up my tank with about 16 gallons last time. It only lasted me about 180 miles. The light came on and the gauge is pretty damn low. This is all city driving and I always shift before 3K RPM. That is like 10-12 MPG. BTW, I have an 05 MT Coupe.

Realistically, how many miles do we have once the needle hits empty? On my old car, I was able to get about 20-40 additional miles once the needle was all the way down.

lol, you guys GOTTA be driving like maniacs!

I drive 80/20, highway/city, respectively

I usually go till about 1/8 on the gauge, light comes on slightly above that

I usually fill up around 16.5-17 gallons and average about 390 miles on each fill up

Ok I read thru three pages of posts and no one asked this, so I will:
"What does running out of gas have to do with burning up your clutch?"

who knows!
but i think the simplest way NOT to run out of gas - put more in once you hit 1/4 tank - i myself - would never let it get below that, im too paranoid!
