Castrol 0W-30,where in So Cal?
I've tried a number of shops; Kraagen, Pep Boys, and AutoZone, looking for the Syntec oil with no luck. Where have you found it?
Have also found some Mobil 1, 0-40 European synthetic, how does this compare?
Thanks

I believe you can get CG 0-30 at a BMW Dealer, but then there's their price.
Amsoil has 0-30 and the other European 0-40 as well.
You can order on-line thru them or search on their site for a local Amsoil dealer to buy from.
From what I've read on here, our VQ seems to like the 0-30 somewhat better than 5-30.
Think 0-30 gives a little more fuel economy too.
Asked my Dealer about going up to x-40 b/c of the summer heat on the way.
He said don't, 30 provides plenty of heat temp protection.

^^Yeah it does as preferred type, but you can use other grades per the owners manual if ambient temps are above 0.
Ummm...the first number only has to do with how cold of climate you operating in. Second number is all about how hot of climate operating in.
So, 0-30 compared to 10-30 is no difference when you're talking about hot climates.
