Year to year differences, oil consumption, and the best year
Year to year differences, oil consumption, and the best year
Alright, so this spring im getting a new car to replace my leased C240 (piece-o-junk) mercedes. I want to buy something and may look at G35's. I might buy used (but in good shape, low miles) or new, it will need to be 6MT. So to my point(s)
-How bad is this oil consumption problem on new G35's?
-What is the best year overall, and why?
Thanks

Oil consumption has not been a problem for me at all.
This manual tranny hasn't gotten the best reputation - a little searching here will go a long way in this regard.
I think 05/06 are the best years if you're buying used - 05 saw the major freshening of the car - interior and exterior - and the brake issues went away.
My .02.
If you're buying new, 07 of course.

i have an 04 with sport package with the brembo brakes and love it, no problems with consumption it seems from my reading on the forums that the rev ups have move problems with the oil.
from what I have read it seems 05-06 MT have the most oil consumption probs... pre 05 and AT don't seem to be as bad... there's a poll out here somewhere and I seem to remember the results reflecting this.
Bought a used '04 6mt, put on 30k miles and dealer notices oil consumption, gives me a new engine. How can you call this a problem?
As long as you buy the car with the warranty, you're problem free. Just don't do anything to the car so that the dealer will try to void your warranty. Enjoy.
