Prediction: 2008 sedan will definitely have the 3.7L engine

After reading about the new G37 coupe, it turns out that the 3.7 is not merely a "bore out" version of the 3.5 engine (actually the stroke was lengthened by 5mm). It's valve electronic is completely different. Unless Nissan decides to price the coupe much more than the sedan, I feel that the new sedan will almost definitely have the 3.7L engine.

Ill tell you right now, if its true, im never buying a first year car again. I never expected infiniti to replace an engine that has brought them so much recognition a year after re freshening it. Doing that will also make this engine "scarce" in the market so after market parts will probably be limited too. Damn, this could really suck..

Sedan needs a new transmission... 6 or 7AT.

If they do that, i'll be trading on a 2008.

I agree that they need at least a 6 speed AT. However, I'm not convinced they will (or need to) put the 3.7 into the sedan. They need to differentiate the coupe from the sedan. The coupe should have a lot more performance than the sedan. From reading a lot of threads here from people who have owned both, there doesn't seem top be that much difference between the two. Just my opinion.

+1. I'm not sure they need to insist that the same engine be standard in both the sedan and coupe. I've driven/commuted/roadtripped with this car for 3 months and have zero complaints about the engine.

It looks almost exactly like the 2008 altima coupe to me. The concept looked much better. I am def. feeling better about going with the 07 sedan.

i saw confirmation that the 08 coupe was going to be just under 3700. if they can put the same power in the sedan without adding all the weight (close to 300lbs to the coupe) then ill take a look at it.

Keep this on topic guys, this thread isn't about how the 08 Coupe looks.

Ehhh.

You people need to stop exagerating.

On topic, yes I believe the Sedan will have a 3.7 as an option. Theres a 335i Coupe and Sedan, so making a 3.7 liter only available for the coupe does not make any sense at all.
