I see people use the word frame rails in the thread..... hmmm weird since this is a unibody car.

Jack from the pinch welds on the side for the front and hit the rear diff for the rear.

for some, including me, our floor jack pads are probably a little wide and they interfere with the plastic part of the body next to the lifting point. It sounds like the idea is to put some sort of pad (or wood piece) with a notched center onto the floor jack pad to simulate the factory jack pad so that it fits the lift point. I tend to lift there with my floor jack and have bent that area somewhat in the past, so it makes sense to use something that better fits that lifting point.

I have used jack stands along the inner "rail" once I've lifted it with my floor jack. I don't know why that wouldn't be an ideal spot for the stands, as the lift point (outer edge of car) seems more likely to fail (crush) than at that point. Also, if you lift it as the manual suggests, how do you swap in jack stands at the same point? I for one, can't get a jack under the front of my low vehicle to jack it up.

With regards to the factory jack. Mine ended up bending after changing a tire, but it was probably more to do with me trying to tighten the lugs while it was still up in the air. Took it to Infiniti and they replaced (while I was still under warranty).

In the front I use the area where the suspension arms connect to the main subframe, big solid metal point that won't bend. In the rear I've always used the tow hooks. When going from the 'factory points' it tends to want to crush the metal and I'm too low to cushion it with a 2x4. Rear tow hooks on these cars are pretty beefy and shows no inclination of bending or causing damage, just don't keep the full weight of the car on one side too long and risk it...
