he was saying that 5at's can (not necessarily will) beat 6mt's.

I love my 6MT. Most of my friends that I know want to drive my car, but my excuse is that, "it's a six speed". They say "oh, nevermind". Regardless, I still wouldn't let them borrow my car. Plus, I think the girls dig the manual a tad bit more. LOL, just kidding guys.

i actually had both cars.. 5at and 6mt (currently).. but to say one out performs the other is incorrect. I think you shouldnt let your friends run your life.. or more your car.. 5at is perfectly fine and plus its easy driving. But I am loving to driving my 6mt more and more.. Driving my 5at was fun.. but i cant make up enough excuses to drive my 6mt..

Both my 87 Turbo and my 05 G35 are manual transmissions. I drive the old car to/from work every day while the G35 sits in the garage. I don't think it would be too bad to have an auto just for cruising back and forth. Last time I took the G35 to a dealer and got an auto G35 loaner (of course), I said to myself "this isn't half bad!!

I am glad I got the manual G35 b/c it is definitely unique and fun. Not many people would expect it to be a stick (except those that know me).

Unfortunately for me, the only way I would get an automatic is if it was not available in a manual. I am thinking of getting an FX in the next few years, and since I cannot get that in a stick I think I would be okay with it. Of course, I would have to get the FX45 cause I could never get a 35 knowing that I "could of" had a 45!! I would always see the 45s and have displacement envy.

You misread his post... he is stating that ATs CAN beat MTs... It read, "don’t think you can't beat an MT"... I think you might have read it as "don’t think you can"

Anyway - those of us with ATs know we can beat MTs - I just did yesterday at the track, 2 were coupes 1 was sedan... I'm AT sedan

There were 2 FXs at the track yesterday - 1 35 and 1 45... the 35 spanked the 45 all day! (he had Stillen stage 4 SC though )

Thanks for all the input guys. I feel much better now about having an auto tranny. I guess you guys are right I shouldn't let my friends run my life, it is my car after all. Maybe for my next car a manual tranny will be in line but for right now I feel a lot better about having an auto.

Thanks guys!
Chris

i would give you a credit if you actually have mods on your car but stock to stock i doubt an AT could even touch MT...but it always depend on how the driver shift though which is another thing. anyways back to the question, like some of this people said...its watever suit you man, dont let other people judge you because you have an AT...at least your driving a g35 right? so f*ck what they say haha.

That’s an overly inflated statement... way wrong. Even stock to say an AT “can’t touch an MT” isn’t accurate... anyway, I do have mods and the post the MTs I referred to also have mods - some more than others... The one that had the most similar mods as I do got beat. There are boatloads of posts about this topic it has gone on since the G first came out. And every time a MT realizes what ATs can do their tune changes... but until they do they think just like you. All I have to say is watch out if you thank you're gonna walk all over an AT - you may get embarrassed!

re-read my post... I addressed stock to stock. I also addressed you misconception.

In reality how many people race stock (besides the dumb@ss' that do it illegally on the roads and end up killing themselves and others). At the track you are almost always going to have modded cars racing. If two cars with nearly identical mods race and one is AT the other is MT you have a pretty good feel for the ability of each.

Keep on preachin' brotha MT man... but don’t be shy to report back here when you don't walk all over an AT like you thought you would (stock or modded).

you act like everybody who goes to the track are modded cars...not exactly. another thing, i dont know why you always give another point to the subject...next you went to mods and now you went to track...well it doesnt really matter, i made my point. regardless on what you say, its all good.

I have addressed stock, I have addressed modded and I have addressed racing… not too hard to follow…

you're points are really hard to follow... so I'm not sure where this is going. One thing is clear - you have a misconception that a stock MT will walk on a stock AT. It is a misconception. Why would a stock AT not have a chance against a stock MT, but a modded AT will have a chance against a similarly modded MT I don't follow your logic - but I'd like to be there when you race an AT stock to stock.

Indeed, "it's all good".
