Yup...91+.
Despite what other ppl have argued in many threads on the same subject.
Go to Infiniti's site and there you can down load owner manuals.
I remember a statement in there saying you can use 87, BUT only fill 1/2 tank,
don't accelerate hard, don't drive at high speeds while only on 87 and fill the rest with 91+ as soon as you can.

Guys you can only download the manuals for the current couple of years, now I think it is 06 and 07. If his car is before then, that doesn't help much.
The following apply if you have a sedan (I don't have a coupe manual to reference so I'm not going to say it is a blanket equal though it *should* be)
If you have an 03-06 automatic you have the option of putting in regular though it says you will get better performance from premium.
If you have an 03-06 manual then I am 99% sure the manual says that premium is required.
I assume you do not have an 07 without a manual so hopefully the above will help you.

Ive used regular, midgrade, and premium and have found absolutely zero difference between any of the 3.
No change in mileage, power, or knocking.
People will give you different opinions. My advice is to try it for yourself and see what happens. Just put in 1-2 gals if you are not comfortable with lower grade.

I use 91, thats what they tell you to use. It prevents detnation or something like that. Because of the higher octane
You can get race fuels (being 101 etc etc) from Sunoco at the tracks, atleast down here in Florida, I'm not sure if they have Sunoco in other states.

91 octane or premium is the recommended gas from Infiniti.
