Bottom Cover question
Bottom Cover question
I just got a nismo bumper and I was wondering, for those of you that have a aftermarket bumper. Do you guys keep the cover underneath the engine? I have always wondered what the purpose for that cover is.
I think that bottom cover has a lot to do with engine cooling, especially at idle. On my old Q45, I left the cover off for a week or so while doing some work on the P/S system... car started to overheat in traffic, and I couldn't figure out what the issue was... Then I was standing there with my toes under the front bumper with the car idling, and felt a lot of heat being blown straight down and out of the front under the car. I suspect it was being sucked back in the front of the radiator and just cascading, getting hotter and hotter. With the cover on that air is forced backward and out near the transmission.
Probably not as much of an issue in normal temps., but we were a little over 100F that day.
