Just do what I did. I brought my 6mt and my girlfriend could not dirve a stick. I took her to a parking lot and made her drive it until she got the hang of it. To my surprise she didn't do bad at all. Don't buy an auto for you will regret it later!
My wife thinks it's "gay" (that's her words, not mine) to get a semi sporty car in automatic. With that said, she knows how to drive a 6spd, her cars have all been manual.... but she still refuses to drive my car, because she knows how **** I am, and is more paranoid about it getting a scratch or something.
case in point, we saw this really nice 911 sitting on HRE's in the parking lot at target, and seeing as I always park in the veeeeery lost spot in the parking lot...we had to walk by it, and I took a peek inside to admire it. She took one look in it, saw that it was automatic, and said "gay"... and kept on walking.
haha

I bought a 6MT--wife went with me to test drive it, etc. She can't drive stick, but she lets me get what I want. She gets to drive the RX300, which we bought for her a few years ago while I continued to drive my old 95 Maxima to the ground.... So--I get the car of my choice.
She did drive it on the highway to Minnesota once when I needed a break--aside from peeling out in 1st, she did ok...hehe....Well, next car we buy will be the one of her choice. I think it's a fair compromise we have going here...

I don't think you have to have a manual to be an enthusiast. F1 cars are paddle shift, most ferarri's i believe are paddle shift now too. BMW's M3 is quicker with the SMG than with 6MT. so it's all on your perspective. I think it's funny to have 4 door with a 6MT, but if i bought the coupe, i'd want the 6mt
everyone thinks mine's an auto until they see the stick and ask why a manual??
i tell them i enjoy "driving a car" with all my appendages and that despite being 4 doors it is still more sporty than some sports cars... flame suit on.... driving an auto is boring for me... i know what gear i'm in just by touch of the stick without having to look down onto the console or looking at the dash for autos...plus if the battery dies, i can pop the clutch to get it going... try doing that with an automatic... i got mine before i married my wife so it is staying...

I prefer auto! I use to have a stick, had an Evo 8, i totaled that sh**t!!! Plus im lazy, i know alot of you G Brothers are married but im still young, i know stick is true racing, but i drive more intoxicated than i am sober. Plus im scared of stick sometimes, reason why? Last time i drove a stick..........This is what happened...... ( Raced a stupid Honda Civic during traffic hours, spun out at 120mph, i beat the civic though
) But to stick to the main topic, yes you did the right thing by getting a 6mt.
